Best album of 2008? Honestly, I hope not... we would be in pretty bad shape. Anyway, if you really had to bestow such a pompous title on us, it would have been better to wait, I don't know, at least until October. That way, at least for absurdity’s sake, it would have sounded more like a plausible opinion.

47, I completely agree with you about post-rock. As for artistic revolutions in general, you are absolutely right about the Pixies, but you yourself have stated that the Pixies had the great virtue of simplicity. The Pere Ubu were also absolute revolutionaries, perhaps among the greatest in rock, but to this day they remain a niche group; they have always been for thirty years, and their insights have not been mainstreamed except through other avant-gardes (the whole New York scene of the late '70s) and more diluted forms of those avant-gardes (much of what was "New Wave" in the UK). And there are other examples, even more striking compared to what followed, like the Fugs for psychedelia, for instance. Cheers!

Once again I agree with Alessio; as far as I’m concerned, post-rock was born with Tweez by Slint and died with Spiderland by Slint.. the rest is too often formalism that leans towards the snobbish. However, I do not agree with your reasoning about "revolutions"... it’s not always the case that for them to be such they need to be accepted by the masses; indeed, precisely because they are revolutions, it’s difficult for them to be accepted as such.. rather, what gets accepted is the watered-down version and only in hindsight, at least that’s often what has happened.. it’s more about the disruptive influence on a certain artistic approach, in my opinion, that measures any potential revolution.

great fuck! I've never delved into Folk Implosion.. I've only listened to the halfway point (in the sense that they weren't Folk Implosion yet) of the soundtrack for "kids" (which I think is awesome, have you heard it?) ..but them, no, however you've made me really want to give them a listen. "As was rumored at the time in the tight-knit circles of the fan club, he was afraid to publish such a masterpiece for fear of overwhelming the demoralized competition and 'killing' the market" aahahaheheh :-D this is the most beautiful sentence in the world! Genius, damn it! And I believe it anyway, DT are unparalleled, even better than the prog bands of the '70s in my opinion.

Yes, don't worry, I was making a general speech that didn't necessarily concern you (I'm talking about the discourse of modernity)... and you were absolutely right about the discourse of 2ponte 2... bye!
