Dream Theater Greatest Hits (...and 21 Other Pretty Cool Songs)

What did you expect? It was obvious that it would come out. In the vein of the Backstreet Boys or Take That, here finally all the magnificent teenage ballads of Dream Theater are collected in a single, marvelous compact disc. Spakka! P.S. the other CD made up of hard pieces is for the teenagers, this one of ballads is for THE teenagers. Great DT, they really respect the pink quotas, or rather, excuse me, the cuote rosa.

"Is it possible for a post-grunge band to make great music, great music videos, and at the same time manage to get played on MTV? The answer is definitely NO" ...that's right, the review could end here.

Come on, that's perfectly fine, I was (a little) ironic :-) ..still, as I've mentioned elsewhere, I find it a bit ridiculous that this album is being heralded as the new standard-bearer of quality Italian music. And, as I already stated in other contexts, it's simply been more publicized compared to many others that are perhaps sometimes more interesting. I mean, just to give an example, the Jennifer Gentle here in Italy are almost at the level of complete unknowns (although that situation is starting to change). Yet they were the first Italian band to be produced by Sub Pop (yes, the one from Nirvana), which might say something. I would have definitely spent many more five and three or four reviews on the Jennifer Gentle, even if their last album isn't exactly a masterpiece, than on this little group of more or less refined songs, more or less pretentious, more or less pseudo-intelligent, more or less "not very impressive." At least the Jennifer Gentle, while they may not be the dawn of a new era, have a distinctly more genuine sense of personality. That was just to make an example, though, but it's definitely fitting.

Nice! I wasn't familiar with this documentary... even though when it comes to documented music, I definitely prefer (on paper) "kill your Idols." :-) hey there!

I'm not blaming Baustelle at all for Gustavo Tanz; but for those who give them 5 and praise them so much, frankly, a little bit yes ;-)

Here’s why Italian music doesn’t take off... just a few intellectual smirks and it’s hailed as a masterpiece... in any other country, they would probably laugh in response.
