Yes, who knows what a lousy concert that would be, imagine... ;) Well, I don't agree... It's pointless to say just take the Cure as a whole; it's intrinsically wrong because Robert Smith has been such a varied songwriter that sometimes he undeniably missed the mark, alongside undisputed masterpieces... And yet, it's precisely because his quirky soul is moody that the TRUE Robert Smith is much more present in spontaneous and varied albums like this one or The Top than in blatant forced efforts from someone playing a part like Pornography, or in pseudo tricks (which fans obviously will never recognize as such) like Disintegration or Wish. Disintegration is an album made much more to please a CERTAIN audience than this one, which is actually less loved by fans; Robert Smith simply brought out what his audience wanted at the right moment with Disintegration, he’s a great self-entrepreneur, otherwise how would he have sold so much with such a unique and strong style? ...That said, there are beautiful tracks on Disintegration, but for me, the most creative Cure are here.

I tried to download it after reading this review... and in my opinion, it's really a kick-ass album. I just don't understand: when I read the reviews at the time of its release, aside from the now non-existent Musica (which usually sucks), all the magazines completely trashed this album. In contrast, even today in magazines that I thought were credible like Rumore, you find the usual disgusting "albums of the month" that seem to be copied straight from NME with all these English bands that aren't worth a dime and that nobody will remember in a year... Yet there’s really no comparison between this and the usual crap like Jet, Maxïmo Park, Libertines, etc. Ryan Adams is clearly aware of being a cliché, and this makes it poetically above the norm.

Psycho, I’ve long agreed with you... really, I also struggled to digest them... but over time you learn to appreciate them... of course, it must be said that compared to other neo-psychedelic currents, Paisley is a tad too retro for my tastes, but this album is beautiful, no doubt about it.

Zuckina, I understood you and I agree, anyway... I definitely vote for you, just to stay on the "votes" :D... it's just that in the end it’s a matter of tastes, we got that... Robi really flipped the situation around (in a good way, I mean), trying to suggest that the DTs weren't just all about arrangement like I said, and we can't change his mind, he doesn’t perceive unnecessary speculation the way you or I do, and if he doesn’t feel that way, what can you say? On the other hand, when it comes to substance or form, I only see huge examples of mediocre inability... with that, great discussion and everything but at this point I really think it would last forever... :-)
