Oh, why weren't records made for girls before?

Great North! I've always been a bit skeptical about them, maybe it's time to dig deeper...

no, in fact Frusciante probably doesn't even know what a pitch-bent note is, and he doesn't care to know it either.. but he plays those solos that then, in the production phase, he reverses which I like so much, ah yes, they really sound good.. how much uselessness is regarded as art.. cohesion, guys, cohesion and incisiveness, sometimes they are needed ; )

Yes, I heard Zappa... I certainly didn't consider that the Vai mentioned above, because Franco was there, and with Franco, thanks to him, it seems like a great musician (I mean a proper musician) even Vai... well, I still have too many doubts about whether he knows how to write about music like Robi says above; to me, writing about music is something different than throwing together 20 genres in four minutes...

hate by default, sure, already mentioned. : ) ..but I actually have this record on my board, no way around it, and I confirm my impressions. If he's done something incredibly more expressive and essential, let me know, though I doubt it...

He will be universally recognized as a monster, but I’m telling you straight: he’s crap. We’ve already entered this discussion regarding Elio e le storie tese, and I reiterate: for me, he’s not a musician. Because even a band like Yo la tengo has a 360-degree vision of rock and traverses ten different genres in each album with IMMENSELY less technique than a Vai. The difference is that, a priori, there’s an interpretation, a recognizable and unique approach, a well-defined vision, a clear communicative purpose, there’s personality, and I don’t feel this with Vai; which is to say: he’s nothing. He does everything but is nothing. One might also admit that he has style, but it’s a totally "cold," aseptic, calculated style, that of an executor, not of a musician; in other words, it’s not real style.

Well, okay, it’s a hatred by default, I don’t have a hard time admitting it. But there are technical musicians and then there are technical musicians: Robert Fripp is a technical musician, but I really can’t even consider Vai a musician, I’m sorry, I just can’t do it.

Well, for me, it means nothing. Zero. Vai could not exist; Frusciante, on the other hand, means a lot to me. And if Vai's inventiveness is purely introspective, Frusciante's is the inventiveness of the musician within the band, which is a substantial difference, and the difference that interests me.

Anyway, it's true: Frusciante's style in Blood Sugar Sex Magik kicks Vai in the ass for a thousand kilometers. I mean, he really gives him a good lesson in class, style, and humility. Poor Vai, after all, if he just can't get there, it's not his fault... it's just that maybe instead of studying ten hours a day, he should have done more drugs, and it would have been better... it's pityworthy, the poor guy :D
