Dream Theater Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory

stefanohab, you say that I said something stupid, and as usual, you don’t respond: why do you accuse me of saying something stupid and then the only thing you say is: "it's a great song"... thanks for nothing, nice explanation.. for me it’s a shitty song and it remains a shitty song; if you had read, anyway, which is almost impossible I admit, all my comments following the review, you would realize that the discussion I’m making is much broader. I simply don’t care that they are derivative, which is indisputable, as you yourself admitted, the problem is that they are empty. Useless. Home, just to mention the one you cited, is a meaningless piece, it's gaudy and exhibitionist, it doesn’t try to express anything, rather more generally it doesn’t want to "express" anything at all, it's pure fodder for the exhibition of its performers. Where’s a real message? Where’s a vision of the world? Where’s a torment, a discomfort, any message, which, mind you, is not simply what’s expressed in the sung part, but is what every piece, as such, has as its fundamental expressive component. This is completely lacking;

Omeganex... I honestly don't understand what your argument is trying to conclude... it makes me say: well? ...indeed Caz has a "bit" of a point ; ) ...where did you get the idea that I listen to few genres and bands? didn't it occur to you that maybe I don't like DT precisely because I listen to many genres and bands? very easily your argument can be turned exactly the opposite... oh well.

x editor, if you really are the editor: don't worry, I'm used to similar messages and they don't bother me... the world is full of assholes and presumably such assholes will never stop infesting it ; )

Duloz, if you want to delve into musicological issues, we could obviously go on endless discussions. And if you end the conversation by saying, “for me, a change in tempo is already substance,” then we have even less to share in a discussion. I will simply state, wanting to reduce this age-old question to fairly simple logic, that if music is not pure language, but also content, meaning the language remains a vehicle, then a change in tempo has no content because it doesn't mean anything on its own. And if it doesn't mean anything, it's bad. Hence the review; )
