Well, aside from the fact that the reference seems quite obvious to me (and I don't see why it should sound offensive as you implicitly suggest), that's the description of a song out of 15. Moreover, it's also clear that everyone interprets a piece in their own way. Also, it was part of a broader discussion aimed at showcasing the eclecticism of the group in question. To sum up, your comment seems a bit unnecessary to me. If not a tad ridiculous... until next time :-)

None of the albums you've mentioned from their respective eras is even remotely the most representative of that time. With this review, we are light years away... your problem is that you present a vision that seeks to be absolute when you, yourself, evidently lack knowledge of at least a few hundred bands from each of the so-called eras.

And yet, how can you decontextualize? That’s precisely what has always been done with the Beatles, seeing them as a case apart with enormous (though unclear why) proportions.. frankly, I've never quite understood the hype surrounding them (and I certainly don’t dismiss many of their songs). And after delving into a few lesser-known bands from those years, I understand even less the incredible critical-historical idolization that we've been inundated with practically since birth. We should contextualize much more, instead... then one would arrive at the consideration that, without any negative hyperbole, the Beatles were just one of many psychedelic bands (from '66 onwards) in England during those years... perhaps a bit more varied than average, but at the same time, one could argue, also much less endowed with real personality and expressive intent than many others.

@coolermaster: the merits you attribute to the Beatles are a few years behind the merits that wholly belong to the Beach Boys.. especially the reformulation and fusion of different styles from the '50s.

Well, there are undeniable facts because of time.. in '66 Velvet Underground and Nico were conceived, the Warlocks were already organizing raves, Blonde on Blonde was released in March, Fugs, Electric Prunes, 13th Floor Elevators had already debuted.. the Beatles didn’t invent psychedelia, that much is certain.
