Franz Ferdinand You Could Have It So Much Better

No, I haven't heard them... Gallagher doesn't have much to throw shade anyway, if he's referring to the singing... I have some demo recordings of Oasis from before '92 that are honestly laughable in terms of how they're sung :)

Oh yes, I’m proud of the fact that this review received thousands of posts! : D ...joking aside, YOU COULD be right in saying that this is a review primarily for the fans of the band rather than for the band itself in question, but as for me sitting down in the evening to listen to them, no way! Absolutely not! Regarding the fact that DT has a unique touch, I don’t know, maybe what you mean by unique touch refers to their interpretation and I could agree with you on that because as good encyclopedic performers, they probably manage to transcend (hide) their various references.. but as I mentioned above to Peacemaker, I don’t find a capacity for synthesis, I don’t find a real style.. and well, it was understood, you could say; ) goodbye John

Peacemaker, sincere congratulations on your intellectual honesty! It truly is rare to meet admirers (in general) of DT willing to admit such restrictions to their clearly religious adoration. If only everyone were like you, I would probably have used less radical registers, although at least I have always motivated my claims, let's say, syllogistically ; ) ..aside from that, you are right, it is a complex discussion. You brought up the example of Metallica, which is very pertinent. I really like Metallica, especially the early ones, precisely because their fusion is very synthetic. In the sense that from the starting elements they synthesize a sound that is still personal and unique, as the elements of Hardcore are totally reinterpreted with a different sensitivity. It’s this that makes "Kill 'em all" (for me) a masterpiece. But this ability to synthesize (that is, to "synthesize") as I feel is completely lacking in DT, where instead the references from which their approach originates remain all too obvious. In any case, it's certainly not important to be remembered as the "symbol" of the '90s.. but compared to many huge and beautiful innovations that were protagonists in the '90s (more than Nirvana, I think of My Bloody Valentine, Fugazi, Mercury Rev, Kyuss, Primus, Massive Attack, Mogwai, Slint, Tortoise), the mixing and attitude of Dream Theater, even setting aside the formal aspect of the super technicalities that may or may not be pleasing, fades completely into the background in my opinion. Cheers : )

oh Peacemaker, calm down, don’t take offense! ..everyone is welcome here, do you really think that with 25,000 posts I can get upset over an "interjection"? I just didn’t agree with you, that’s all. bye

I've already told you: I care just enough about the nickname, it's a matter of style and it remains a matter of style, but who really cares ; ) ..that your point of view is that the DT have made history was abundantly clear, John... obviously I completely disagree. That said, I admit your argument about their recognizability makes sense... sure, following this logic, you could say the same about Britney Spears, who with her squeaky voice is truly unmistakable... or one could say the same, I don't know, about the Gemelli diversi for example, even their American pseudo hip-hop style has no equals. Still, the fact remains that the Gemelli diversi, you'll agree, are one of the worst aberrations in the form of music in recent years. So, as logically sensible as it may be, the argument of "recognizability" doesn't hold up. As for "they have made history," there are at least a hundred posts scattered above explaining why I think otherwise. So I won't repeat myself : ) bye

Peacemaker, the difference certainly exists, and it's all too obvious. I don't hide behind the guise of the Cure, my nickname REMINDS of the Cure but is not that of A MEMBER of the Cure, and it's the nickname that I always use in any of the many rooms on this site, which is CLEARLY associated with a personality... that of Petrucci obviously is not. But even a child would understand this, Peacemaker... ; ) ..with that said, if Petrucci likes to continue like this, that's fine by me... I simply pointed out a fact that already in itself shows the inferiority of my interlocutor... eheheh : D au revoir

"Some of our CDs are history"... ahahah : D ..that's great! But come on, at least you understood that you need to let go of the envy! After all, just because there are bands that can revolutionize music with two chords, while you can't manage it after years and years of sweat and money spent in famous international music schools, doesn’t mean you should feel frustrated... at least not too much, come on... it might be hard to accept, and I get it, but there’s always hope! ahahahah : D

Alex, I have a couple of Van der Graaf vinyls, and I think they're definitely worth 5.50 euros, and even if you spent a little more it would be fine anyway. ;) Bye!

Oh my God John, it's a matter of perspective that your band isn't a cover group eheheheheh :D ...this doesn't even consider that I would be curious to know what you really do, I mean you really, or are you so sad that you’re ashamed to even come out? Meh... I don't pretend to be the drummer of the Cure, at least if you're going to throw criticisms at MY band, have the dignity to do it without hiding... but maybe dignity isn't your thing, in fact I forgot that you hide behind the guise of John Petrucci ; ) ...well... ahahahh : D

Truce? Well, it’s not necessary, we didn't tear each other apart, luckily... anyway, nothing else to say, that’s for sure, I think that now there can be only one answer: your opinion. bye : )
