Dream Theater Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory

Oh yes, but the problem, Linus, is that I never said that :D ... I didn't say that everything technical is cold at all. That's something you put in my mouth; what you can't see, by simplifying the classification of what is technical and what isn't (a simplification I didn't make), is that there are different kinds of technique. One thing is Robert Fripp, another is Les Claypool, and another are the Dream Theater... their approach is purely academic, there’s no real style: you say Myung has personality and style, but I’d like to know where this consideration comes from; Les Claypool has a completely personal way of understanding the bass: he invented a style with a truly unique playing technique, drawing from both funk themes and hard and punk references, giving everything a sound and an interpretation that are absolutely cohesive. What does Myung have of all these qualities? ... Obviously nothing. His vision is totally standard, however refined and elaborate; there’s nothing really stylistic... in any case, I’m waiting for you to prove me wrong, though I doubt that will happen ; ) bye.

"In this site, I haven't yet found a review worthy of being called such"; very well done, Enrico Gullo! : D ..so I spontaneously ask you: why don’t you go back to reading some magazines by "professionals" who are always busy kissing the ass of the current trend? ..or maybe you’d prefer some nice magazine or fanzine like "Metal Hammer," which confuses Music=Heavy Metal ..illuminating, I imagine : D ..besides this, you win the Oscar for the second smartest comment of the day with your last sentence: "it's about time to remember that there are 12 notes" ..well, look at that! And has it never occurred to you that with 12 notes the combinations of harmony and rhythm are practically infinite? If you add the variables of "sound" and "arrangement," they are even more infinite. And if you add the variables of expressiveness and human creativity, they are EVEN more infinite.. just think about that miracle! : D ..but maybe for a Dream Theater fan, these are a bit difficult to understand, heheh : D

"the ignorant review music"... and tell me, from where did you draw this enlightening conclusion? You could have said: "you're an idiot," and I would have understood, a bit of healthy frustration from the DT fan touched in their pride... or perhaps you could have said, more elegantly: "I disagree," and we could have happily discussed... : D ...but why, oh why, must you descend into such hideous and banal obtuseness? ...with the cherry on top: "pick up a bass and try to play Myung"... there you go, the smartest comment of the year... we're not even close. Instead, try picking up a bass and INVENTING (Notice the distinction between performing and inventing. Too difficult?) the bass lines of a Les Claypool or a Joe Lally or a Mike Watt... then you will understand the difference between being a great musician and being a creatively failed performer (guess, guess: try to say who) ; ) aurevoir

Regarding the Today is the day, can someone (like Sfascia or Kosmo) tell me more?? ...I don’t know whether to get close to them or not... I’ve heard really good things, but they seem like too much violence and nothing more... or do they actually rock hard?

Look, I’m sorry but I really didn’t even bother to read it… What leaves me with some doubts regarding the first lines that I read is that in '64 the Pink Floyd were doing Rhythm and Blues.
