I am against the glorification of the current deceased, I have already said it, and we agree. However, in regards to the artist, let’s not forget please that that "one album" is one of the greatest masterpieces of rock of all time.

Great proposal. It makes me laugh how today's critics rave about the latest new garage proposal... The New Bomb Turks back in the day (about ten years ago, or maybe a bit more) were ignored by everyone except the punk sect and yet they were doing the exact same things that Black Lips and company are doing today (but with much more intellectual honesty, being completely out of fashion). The review is spot on in my opinion. Not much else to say: they’re simply a real hand grenade :-)

I don't like these real-time celebrations at all either... moreover, the conclusion, irrespective of a priori reasons, is really pathetic and, if you'll allow me, quite stupid: who said that Barrett is the last true artist? And for what reason, above all, should he be the last true artist? Come on...

Honestly Marco, I feel the same way.. I find it really to be a very preposterous thing. (I've already discussed this enough in the review already present on Debaser, anyway..) Lux, I’ve never even listened to American Idiot.. but it would be rather foolish to positively judge a critic only when they say exactly what you want to hear. That wouldn’t be very stimulating, would it? ..And anyway, Scaruffi is a real treasure trove of information about bands, regardless of critical reasons.

Let me put it this way.. you guys have understood little to nothing about Scaruffi :-) .. this is absolutely not an offense, I too had fallen into the trap of judging him too hastily. This is something one should NOT do with someone of his culture. Anyway, to get even a slightly accurate idea of a music database as vast as his (and therefore his critical perspective), one would need to read at least 1000-2000 of his entries. It took me a couple of years (entirely dispassionately whenever it happened, mind you, not for "work"), discovering among other things a ton of beautiful or at least interesting groups, and then I understood that certainly as a critic he deserves respect. Even if, as is the case with every human being, in the face of many accurate, in-depth, analytical criticisms, sometimes he judges purely based on taste. Which I believe is the case with DT (and I say this completely dispassionately). In fact, his reviews on DT are almost simple descriptions, and if you dig a bit into his site, you’ll see he is fixated on suites or pieces longer than ten minutes based on jam sessions...

yes yes, in fact he gives them six (but I repeat, I have never claimed nor wanted to agree with Scaruffi on everything).. however that definition is, how can I say, ruthless, for what the Dt would like to represent.. (as he himself says in fact) :-D

tony, you still don't get it :-) ..I couldn't care less if Scaruffi gives the DT an 8 and the Cure a 7.. anyway, if it particularly pleases you, keep posting ratings.. I especially liked that quote: "canzoni da Night club" AHAHAH :-D ..very fitting. P.S. your quote from Scaruffi on the DT fully confirms my thoughts about them as well: fireworks, hot air. Which evidently Scaruffi likes, but I don’t.
