Well, we're more or less on the same page about the album, though I slightly disagree with your exaltation of Zappa..

"Her criticisms are too absurd; at best, she can say that they're not very original. It's clear that we don't agree on several things... ah ah ah, she keeps avoiding explaining to me WHY my criticisms would be 'too absurd.' I continue to wait for such an explanation. Or should I assume, as I'm already starting to do, that she is simply evading the discussion (as so many others before her) just because she wouldn't know what to say? But come on, let's take responsibility for our statements, please, as we are all adults and vaccinated ;-D... the only thing she has tried to bring up is that we disagree on several things. Thank you, that was obvious: however, it's not like any opinion different from one's own can be defined as 'absurd'... that would be rather stupid :-)"

Finally: "Mr. Petrucci has proven to be the best guitarist currently existing on planet Earth, and even if he weren't the best in your eyes, it would be inconceivable for him to deserve nonsensical criticism from you, who in fact is nobody." 1) Even limiting ourselves to the purely technical factor (something you're not addressing at all), who said that Petrucci must necessarily be the best? 2) You do not explain why my criticisms should be nonsensical; to me, and to many others, they absolutely make sense. Please explain your nonsensical comment. 3) Every form of art has a referent to which it communicates; in the case of music, the referent is the listener. I listen to a lot of music. If it weren't for me listening, like all the others who listen for different reasons and whom I support with money for concert tickets or, more rarely, for albums by artists or "pseudo such" like all those who do what I do, these same artists would not exist. Therefore, I say whatever I want regarding whatever I want. Since this right, in addition to being supported by the freedom of opinion which, as you will know (but seem not to consider), is a human prerogative for some centuries, I have had since the moment I spent my first euro (pardon, my first lira—unfortunately, I am already "old") on a music group. 4) It is rather ridiculous for someone who concludes by labeling (without providing any explanation whatsoever) artists like Pixies or Wire as "pseudo bands" to make such a comment to me. This is just to return to the previous point.. :-D

But what does "they set the standard" mean? :-D How can you set the standard for how to arrange a track with female choir parts? It's not exactly a particularly original or meaningful trick... Come on, there's no need to beat around the bush; the Dt have straight up copied the choruses from Dark Side of the Moon. Then we can debate whether copying an arrangement makes sense or not as a critique of a band, but denying it or offering "historical" reasons to argue that it's not blatant plagiarism seems pretty ridiculous to me... As for the rest, Domo has already spoken: she excludes the VU, leaving her with the so-called "pseudo-bands" like Sonic Youth, Pixies, My Bloody Valentine, Wire... Let's see what the next "I take that back" will be eheheheh :-)

Lux, I think he is essentially right: the difference is that for him Power pop is synonymous with bland music, while for me it is not, or at least not necessarily :-) And in fact, I would consider Doolittle a masterpiece on par with Surfer Rosa.

:-D wow, anonymous, you even went digging up samples from Hermes... incredible! Well, I left Hermes precisely because they didn't really suit me.. as soon as I make a demo that I consider good enough with my current band, I’ll be happy to post the link. Anyway, I have a significant doubt: what "spies" do I have behind me to have even unearthed a deceased creature from two years ago? You sure have a lot of time to waste.. damn, this review burned you, eheheheh :-D

Dear Lestat, I have never "claimed to be right".. I simply express my opinion, and it’s obvious that if it’s mine, it’s the right one for me. A bit of logic, come on ;-)
