Matteuccio, if two critics, as you would say, "serious," give an 8.5 rating to Surfer Rosa by the Pixies (and 8 to Images and Words), do you think they're doing it for "the history"? Are they thinking that qualitatively they're a band that sucks? Come on, think about it, it doesn’t make sense.

When have I ever conceived of music as a delight or pleasure? ...and would I have made all these remarks if I had conceived it that way? Think about it, Matt, you’ve just said something stupid... "With the advent of punk and grunge, music has become so simplified that it has an artistic value of zero." Oh really? ...I didn’t know that. The same Scaruffi and Fabretti I mentioned above consider masterpieces (qualitatively and artistically) London Calling, Zen Arcade (the latter being the 24th best album in the entire history of music according to Scaruffi), Repeater, Let It Be (by the Replacements), Rocket to Russia, Warehouse Songs and Stories, etc.. All punk albums... moreover, your statement is historically inaccurate: the primordial rock'n'roll is simple and untechnical, just like soon after Garage, Surf, or Skiffle, just like the Beatles.

"If I go to a TRUE music critic, he will definitely tell me that in terms of historical importance or visionary or experimental music, the Pixies are great, undeniable. But he will surely tell me that ARTISTICALLY, QUALITATIVELY, TECHNICALLY, INSTRUMENTALLY, COMPOSITIONALLY, THEORETICALLY, the Pixies are insignificant compared to a prog band. If the Pixies have significant value in terms of historical importance and visionary and experimental music, how can they then be considered insignificant (compared to a hypothetical prog band) in terms of composition, artistic merit, or quality? It’s a contradiction, think about it. P.S. Scaruffi and Fabretti, two who have written encyclopedias on rock, give higher ratings to the Pixies than to DT."

1) "Easy… in 4 points you kept reiterating your concepts without any evolution and without a renewed and innovative reasoning" … well, I believe it… you made me discover hot water, Matt :-) 2) "I went to ask the dictionary for help to give you a much broader perspective than your narrow view" oh really? Because to you, that of the dictionary seems like a "broad" perspective? It’s a contradiction in terms, think about it… 3) "Reading ALL MY REVIEWS, you will understand that I am MUCH more open than you in musical matters." I have to trust you on that, Matt, but looking over what you’ve reviewed aside from metal and guitar heroes, I only see Evanescence and the latest Placebo… not exactly what I would call "an open vision" :-D 4) "You keep confirming that YOU JUDGE WITHOUT KNOWING" and of course, historically, your statements are all verifiable, while ours (mine and Lux’s) are not, that’s obvious… eheheh ;-) 5) "Unfortunately, to make quality music you need to study" you keep going on about this, but you haven’t understood: you’re talking to the wind, resign yourself, this topic doesn’t hold up… the fact that it doesn’t hold even with Lux should tell you something… if you want to keep going, feel free, but it’s a topic that makes no sense.

x "a sharp observation".. dear, if I really wanted to disparage dear Mika, I would have written it on the other review we were discussing.. you don't even know if it is MY review or not, so what are you babbling about? ..it doesn't take a genius to figure that out.. avoid making similar blunders in the future ;-)

It's truly incredible... I just hope for her own dignity that she has been ironic so far :-D otherwise, I'm happy to leave her to stew in the broth of her own emptiness.. sure, if not intelligence, I at least expected a bit of cunning: she hasn't expressed a single substantive point, it's all written above who she thinks she can fool? :-D oh well.. poor fool.

P.S dear Matt, just so you know, I didn't put the Sample in, I've never put a sample in my life on Debaser ;-)

Dear Mika '83... my topics have expanded, rather than diminished, since I wrote the review (this too was among my first)... so beyond the usual clichés, please try to be a bit more relevant to the next comment. Study some of the discussions above... P.S. Out of respect, which I still hold for you despite everything, I will avoid directing the "public" to the other review we are discussing... just to highlight the kind of character you are... but it would be, I can well imagine, truly too degrading :-D goodbye

inevitable conclusion: in 4 posts you obviously haven't dismantled anything, and I want to point out that for every point, I only needed 3-4 lines to counter it ;-) until next time.
