I prefer brutal death, but in its genre this album is a masterpiece. I don’t know At The Gates well enough, but I’ve heard something from Slaughter of the Soul and it doesn’t seem to measure up to this album (even though it’s a good work). The review is pleasant and fairly well done. You just needed to emphasize a little more on the melody, which, in my opinion, is the true cornerstone of the album (and not the aggressive verses). Anyway, good job.
