you wouldn't believe how upset I was. the thought that the first ones I mentioned were paying tribute to the great Chuck filled me with joy and made me want to buy the album in the future, but after reading "slipknot and mudvayne," I was really disappointed... really a lot.

I completely agree with you on this because I've always thought of Killer as a different album that I haven't liked that much. But if you think about the self-titled one that came out a year earlier and The Number of..., you see them as two heavy albums. Then they found a more straightforward sound, then moved towards a darker and more melodic sound, and after going through eras of Power, I now see them differently. Especially since they are almost at the end.

Honestly, not all of their albums appeal to me. Some are honestly too "chewed up." Some hit hard, but others just don’t sit well with me... they're as inconsistent as they are lethal.
