Roby, thank goodness you didn't see them; they are horrifying, unrecognizable, and I believe the entire lineup has completely changed... they looked like a group similar to Green Day and various junk... somewhere I should have the tape because I even recorded it (well, the entire history of Genesis from '69 to '97!!!!). They often ignore the '69 - '77 production because, being the most beautiful and avant-garde period for the wider audience (teenagers who "like" simple and trivial "POP"), you should know that for me there are two types of "POP": the trivial and the "professional." The latter is exemplified by the Beatles from the psychedelic period, and what Genesis under Collins used is "Trivial POP" that attracts stupid teenagers and the stupid people a few years older, just because it's easy listening music.

nick81, perhaps what Genesis had and the other two memorable bands you mentioned lacked is that Gabriel & Co. not only paid great attention to the arrangements, but they also thought a lot about the concepts to express (look at "Foxtrot" - "Selling..." - "The Lamb..."). As for Yes and ELP, especially the latter, they brought (in my opinion) a new conception of virtuosity and perfect arrangements. Roby86, I agree with you, it's true that since Collins started to confuse Genesis with his solo career, he's made a mess... Yes, but did you see in the special of "ALL MUSIC - MONO" when they showed Genesis without Collins in 1997?????? WHAT A DISASTER!!!!!

Roby86, sorry for replying now. I don't think it's an exaggeration; try comparing the Gabriel Genesis with the Collins ones... conclusion: Gabriel's Genesis = Vanguard and great compositions Collins' Genesis = Banality (well, the '80s POP...).

Ah, and then in my opinion the greatest album by Genesis is "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway". And in second place is "Selling England By The Pound".

Roby86, it's obvious that they improved with this "Trespass." As soon as they saw the formula adopted for "From Genesis To Revelation," which combines POP/Psychedelia/a touch of Jazz and clearly some Prog Rock lines that didn't quite work, they decided to "diverge." Anyway, the Genesis ended when Gabriel left and Phil Collins came to sing.

Roby86 in "From Genesis To Revelation" there are some really interesting pieces and points. I haven't listened to it in a long time, but I certainly know what I'm talking about. Trust me.

Good job, great performance. Well, there's nothing to say about the record, but for me the best for Genesis is yet to come.

YOU ARE OBSESSED WITH MICHAEL, I AM WITH THE '60s AND '70s, FOR ME IT'S A TIME OF GREAT CREATIVITY. PEOPLE LIKE THIS JESSE DIDN'T EVEN EXIST BACK THEN, BUT I HAVE TO SAY THAT BY READING A LOT ABOUT THE BEATLES, THEY WERE BUILT UP TOO, BUT UP TO A CERTAIN POINT; AFTERWARDS, YOU NEED TO LOOK AT THE SOLO CAREERS, ESPECIALLY JOHN LENNON'S.

IT'S MORE THAN OBVIOUS THAT MICHAEL JACKSON IS BETTER; FOR ME, A TRACK LIKE "THRILLER" IS A FLASH OF GENIUS (IN FACT, THERE'S NO COMPARISON WITH JESSE), ESPECIALLY THE VIDEO. THE POINT IS NOT THAT IF YOU CAN'T WRITE YOU'RE AN IDIOT, THE POINT IS THAT IF YOU CAN'T WRITE TRACKS YOU CAN'T CALL YOURSELF AN ARTIST, PERIOD.

I DIDN'T EVEN WANT TO COMMENT ON A PERSON WHO CAN'T SING, BUT ONLY KNOWS HOW TO MAKE CUTE WINKS AT GIRLS, BUT WHEN I SAW THE UNJUST REFERENCE TO PAUL McCARTNEY, AS A GOOD ESTIMATOR OF THE BEATLES I MUST SPEAK UP... 1) THE BEATLES MADE MUSIC AND THEY WROTE IT, AND WHAT HAS THIS IDIOT JESSE WRITTEN????????? 2) IT'S TRUE THAT IN THE '60s THERE WERE HYSTERICAL SCENES FRONTING THE BEATLES SIMILAR TO THOSE THAT OCCUR IN FRONT OF THIS PUPPET, BUT AS ALREADY STATED IN POINT 1, THEY KNEW HOW TO WRITE. 3) IN MY OPINION, THIS CHARACTER CREATED BY THE MAJOR LABELS SHOULD REMOVE THAT LAST NAME HE CARRIES, BECAUSE I THINK IT'S AN HONOR TO CARRY THE LAST NAME OF AN ARTIST (WHICH IS NOT JESSE MC.... I DON'T EVEN WANT TO CONTINUE WITH THE LAST NAME) LIKE THE GREAT PAUL FROM THE BEATLES. 4) WHAT THE HELL DOES THIS PUPPET'S MUSIC HAVE IN COMMON WITH THAT OF THE BEATLES???? I WOULD LIKE TO CONCLUDE BY SAYING THAT DEAR CHIARA, I UNDERSTAND YOUR ENTHUSIASM, BUT REALIZE THAT WHAT YOU LISTEN TO IS NOT WHAT YOU LIKE. IT'S ALL IMPPOSED BY A SOCIETY THAT WANTS YOU TO REMAIN IGNORANT IN THE MUSICAL FIELD, SO DO YOURSELF A FAVOR (I'M NOT TELLING YOU WHAT TO DO, YOU'RE FREE TO LISTEN TO WHATEVER YOU WANT) START LISTENING TO SOME UNDERGROUND GROUPS OF TODAY, OR PINK FLOYD, ROLLING STONES, GENESIS, AND LOTS OF OTHER GOOD MUSIC. CHIARA, DON'T TAKE THIS POST AS AN OFFENSE, BUT TAKE IT AS A BROADENING OF THE MIND. HELLO.
