Thank you all for the comments! @festwca, I don't think we will ever agree on the dinosaurs, but I believe your definition of "country-band in hardcore version" is too simplistic. I don't think Beyond will revolutionize the rock world in 2007, but it's an absolutely enjoyable and electrifying album, trust me! @ghemison, what can I say... I'm waiting for you to be enlightened on the road to Ontario! @mien_mo_ma Yes, the emo's album is not bad, Barlow has made a great comeback after a long period of dullness, and his two tracks on "Beyond" are noteworthy as well. @alessioiride, I don't have the Peel version of "Bulbs of Passion," I'm trying to get my hands on it... it seems like the classic experimental track that the Dinos used to put at the end of their albums, like later "Poledo" and "Don't," I'll make sure to listen to that version. @zigghio, your parallel is very, very interesting; maybe we'll discuss it in the monograph.... I fundamentally believe that "Again" and "Gold Rush" are very different... "Again" is an album of pure eclecticism, with three songwriters at the peak of their form (Furay, Stills, and Young), in a melting pot of highly inspired musicality where all the band's influences and the California scene can be found, starting from psychedelia, which in 1967 was at its zenith: an unrepeatable album. "After the Gold Rush" is the cornerstone of Neil Young's singer-songwriter era, less musically varied but equally inspired from a lyrical standpoint...

Well, I really think they were an influence, even if not at the level of the Minutemen or Husker Du; after all, they were label mates on SST... For Scaruffi, the Puppets were the link between Young and Mascis. I don't quite agree with this statement; the influence was direct. Just think of the opening of "No Bones" on "Bug," which is in every way similar to that of "Alabama"... Besides, the Meat Puppets were certainly influenced by Neil; after all, who hasn't been influenced by the greatest of all, hehe?

True Ramona, when we talk about J's disheveled solos, that's the archetype.. for me the leper is THE song by Mascis par excellence.

Your artistic "terzomondismo" is always commendable, a refreshing breath of exotic air.

@pretazzo. I only mentioned those three groups because I believe they were Jay's favorites: among his inspirations, I would also mention the Cure: "forget the swan" somewhat recalls the melodic thrust of "play for today," and later the dinosaurs will cover "just like heaven."

Thank you for the comment on the Buffalo Priest mono: nibilo, of the Ministry I much prefer "mind is a terrible thing to taste".

"Heavy metal is a pose, hard rock is a way of life"....an ironic statement towards the heavy metal world, whose largest market was in Germany (it's written in a kind of German)....it seems to be the name of one of their EPs or albums, I don't know.

I've never been told much, they've always given me the impression of not adding anything new to what had been done by the obvious inspirations (Dinosaur Jr. first and foremost), but rather being quite verbose... de gustibus, great review.

one of the albums of the year in my opinion.
