Great review, the album is lively and theatrical just enough... Almond as an entertainer is in a league of its own.

"beg to differ" is a classic, and the reviewer's first sentence is correct; I didn't even know it had been released....

Finally, I have it in my hands; it was worth the wait. I am thoroughly satisfied; it's a coherent and impressive work that repaints several pieces of the Youngian imagination with polish. "Spirit road" and "No hidden path" carry the flair of better times, breaching the strongholds of the behemoths branded Crazy Horse, "Ordinary people" is already known and doesn't even bore in this rendition despite its lengthy duration, and it's clearly a bijou. Perhaps a couple of soul-infused tracks like "believer" are slightly out of place, but they break the tension of the album at just the right moment. "Beautiful bluebird" reminded me more of "out on the weekend" than "human highway," with that unmistakable harmonica breath and that calm, relaxed way of starting the album, just like on "Harvest." The finishing touch with "The way" is excellent: Neil wouldn't miss a piano ballad even if he tried. Now, though, it's time for the Archives: February 14, 2008 (hopefully...). For now, I rate it between 3 and 4 stars.

No, I didn't intentionally include Black in that list. In my opinion, Godrich is not on the level of champions like Albini, Moulder, or Terry Date. He’s not a producer whose work you immediately recognize, or who brings that special something that elevates an album: he produced "Ok Computer," but also "The Invisible Band" by Travis, "Terror Twilight" by Pavement, the last ones by Air: all albums with rather ordinary production... in short, he’s a professional with big numbers, not someone who creates wonders like Dave Friedmann did with "Deserter's Song" by Mercury Rev (to name someone from the same era).

Come on Juro San, we got it that you don't like Nirvana (anymore): hundreds of comments, the takedown of "In Utero," etc... let's move on, gift us some of your golden quality reviews on something new.

Modesty is not a widespread virtue, notoriously. Hello!

Oh yes, Sanjuro is absolutely right: music for angry teenagers without any particular skill. William Burroughs, one of the greatest artists of the second half of the last century who asked Cobain to provide the music for one of his stories, certainly didn't think so.

Sure, London? I always knew that Paul was only the central part (by the way, the most beautiful) of that eternal masterpiece "A Day in the Life." Anyway, there’s no doubt that Paul was more of a "musician" than Lennon; after all, "Abbey Road," by far the most polished and balanced album of the Fab Four, in terms of arrangements and songs, is largely his work. However, John had phenomenal peaks of genius: they complemented each other perfectly.
