Ah, and then those fake roadies are nothing but the members of DEVO in disguise, a band with which Young was "flirting" at the time...

Those hooded guys are the roadies of the Crazy Horse (nicknamed "Road eyes"), dressed up like the Jawas from "Star Wars": one of the many metaphors that permeate that tour (the monolith amplifiers, the Hendrixian echoes of Woodstock, etc.), all to celebrate the death, in a surreal and metaphorical way, of the hippie concept of rock under the axe of punk and its rebirth from the ashes with the cry of "rock and roll can never die." Guaranteeing it all is the director of the concert film: Bernard Shakey, a.k.a. Neil Young!

Thanks to everyone @oleinar, I still have some rounds to fire on Neil...@trickykid. Exaggerated! @contemplazione. It's one of Neil's best covers, and he's always been obsessed with monster amplifiers. (Just look at the one for "Rust never sleeps," the same with "Weld"), of course here everything is deliberately more sinister.

I haven't listened to it in ages: I think I need to get it back in circulation, even though it didn't strike me as much as some of Coyne and the gang's other works.

In my opinion, some Shellac tracks can be considered among the forerunners of math rock... I’m thinking in particular of songs like "The Idea of North" and "Pull the Cup" from "At Action Park."

Hey Vivis, I took advantage of the momentum from your piece on Little Richard: believe it or not, just yesterday I thought of you when a place played "Tutti Frutti" covered by the Queen... among the great pioneers, we should also remember poor Buddy Holly, who still doesn't have a page here on Debaser. Without these pioneers, our lives would have been much poorer. Thanks to everyone for the comments.

Why not? It would be very interesting, zuma!

You did very well to mention Robert Johnson; when I spoke of blues scales, I was specifically referring to his legacy (though filtered): another great figure.

Thank you bubi and lariana, but this little page is just a modest tribute to the great Chuck. @it's true, all it takes is to say that at that time there was also a certain Bo Diddley in the Chess roster. By "breakthrough elects" I mean that Berry was among the few for whom in rock you can draw a line between before him and after him. He truly changed the game.
