"But we are in Italy: if you're not Western, you have no hopes!".....certain protagonists of "vacanze in america" might contradict you....

Magic Johnson once said of Jordan: "There's Michael, then the rest of us." The same applies to Supersoul on DeBaser; you outdid yourself. The phrase "taking out the broomstick that David Bowie had shoved up his ass" is fabulous. You said everything about the album; the version of "Louie Louie," with the gasp of an exhausted Iggy, is something indescribable. Perhaps only Young's "Last Dance" has released something so extreme and abrasive live.

I prefer it with Faces, but during the period you described, he moved in much deeper waters than the "Sailing" era.

I didn’t mind it. At 16, I also read Stendhal and Joyce; you just need to put everything in the right perspective.

A sharp and effective review as a lay-up by Dennis Johnson (R.I.P.). I didn't know that Phil's wobbliness had also threatened Cohen; I only remembered one of the Ramones...

More than "Blues for Allah," with the title track where the Dead run a bit too wild, I would mention the 1972 solo work by Garcia, featuring gems like "The Wheel" and "Sugaree," which, not by coincidence, would become live standards for the Dead. Nothing to object about the live performances, but it’s hardly a groundbreaking revelation.

Not even the Grateful Dead after '70 produced anything particularly remarkable in strictly musical terms: and in terms of studio albums, their output certainly doesn't stand out compared to other contemporary bands, quite the opposite. That they were from another planet live is another matter entirely, and I don’t think anyone would dispute that.

Perfect review.
Manassas Down The Road

This time I see it differently from good Mien. Mediocre album, just a couple of Stills' scratches are worth saving: the rest is embarrassing even for completists, certain salsa-rock numbers seem to anticipate the retirement of Santana in Miami Beach. Anyone who has only heard of Manassas should get the debut, now that’s a masterpiece.
