Grateful Dead Workingman's Dead

Dave, I absolutely love the Grateful Dead: personally, I think their only full five-star album is "Live Dead." It's no coincidence that they reached their peak in live performances. In their studio works, they didn’t always manage to perfectly crystallize their class, perhaps only in "Aoxomoxoa" and in this one.

Well done, you've filled an important gap in the database. Great album as always, even though it's not on the same level as the various masterpieces of country rock: yet another proof of versatility and eclecticism.

Welcome. I don't think it's my kind, but your contribution is well done and I believe it's always useful to take a look into other universes, not necessarily musical ones.

Imagine Dante: I really love Fred Neil, a greatly underrated author, and I think it's right to give Caesar what belongs to Caesar. The same goes for John Barry, who, despite being immensely well-known, has yet to receive the honor of a review on this site; that's why he needed to be mentioned. Bye!

The overtaking is perhaps a bit more beautiful; the reviewer did very well to frame them both in the right perspective.

Well, the soundtrack is truly the work of the greatest in this craft ever (it’s a tie with Morricone), the supreme John Barry. His "Midnight Cowboy" is, in this sense, an archetype of pop culture (who remembers the version by Faith No More?), while "Everybody's Talking" is by Fred Neil: Nilsson merely covered it. Extraordinary film, nothing more to add.

Sure, Lester has his importance, but it’s not just him. If you want to do a counter-analysis, you need to delve into the character of Ricki, who is as fundamental as Spacey’s character: the film revolves around two rebellions that intertwine. Regarding the phrase "le risposte devono essere ben altre," okay, maybe it's slightly emphatic, but it's a corollary to "tutto qui": I'm not a director and I don’t work in film, it should be a character of Mendes' caliber who goes further. The impression I got was that of a "sermon," which, by the way, is full of holes (even if the actors are great) and that annoyed me in its conclusions. That's all. Until next time!

Well Fusillo, our opinions diverge but it’s always useful to have a discussion. I quoted from memory, but it seems to me that at the time it was the same director who made challenging statements in this regard, perhaps influenced by the excitement of the accolades and awards that piled up. My tone was related to that period. I didn't say "you must tell this and that," I simply wrote: is that all there is? Which is what I thought when I saw the film for the first time. Moreover, the narrative outcomes didn't convince me, not so much because of poor Lester, but especially because of Ricki's all-encompassing aestheticism, a drive that is absolutely self-serving. @bartleboom, yes, you’ve been very clear, thank you!
