Lux, let’s do this: stop listening to jazz, don’t come and write about music “that leaves you cold,” okay? Considering that you’ve gone to great lengths to try to turn ajeje’s phrases around and still be right... “so tell me what’s beautiful about rock?” --- expressiveness. Damn, your answers are truly enlightening, unlike ours... But what’s the meaning of rain? And the meaning of a bug splattered on the windshield? Do socks have a meaning? Do one-way streets have a meaning? :DD

Here, Dexter Gordon for example: throughout his career he played the same genre, namely the bop of which he was also one of the pioneers. He churned out excellent works that are completely distant from the concept of avant-garde and without conceptual pretensions. So what sense does his music make? Is it useless? Absolutely not: it makes us feel the greatness of a saxophonist playing the music he loves, for those who want to follow it. That's all there is to it.

Well, Larrok, everyone sees and feels music as they believe. I seek good music by reflecting on it just enough. And even if music is made "only" to please the ears, so be it...

Lux, why do you keep asking: "what's the point of BB??...why don't you (you and Larrok) admit that you've written statements about a genre you don't know and with monstrous carelessness?

Lux, ajeje has described to you in 2 lines (and better than I could) the greatness of BB, the groove, the psychedelia, the darkness of a majestic album; honestly, I don’t know what else to tell you. You keep looking for the "meaning," perhaps Miles and co. just wanted to create a nocturnal, psychedelic, and improvised album. Anyway, I see no way out. But don't worry, just don't listen to it...:DD

Yes, but lux if you say that based on various jazz listens then fine, if you assert these things having listened to very little jazz then what’s the point of discussing? No offense of course... :D

Larrok, I absolutely LOVE the Residents... anyway, tell us what you really think, come on, I'm curious.

No no Larrok, express yourself without reservations; we’re not going to stone you... we're still discussing music after all. If we find ourselves in disagreement, we'll let you know. :D

"You are free to think differently" --> thanks for the concession! :DDD

"In rock, anything goes"... so why are there STRICT rules to follow in jazz?... listening to Sun Ra, Coltrane, Braxton, Sanders, etc. etc., it wouldn’t seem so... anyway, let’s stick to our positions and amen. :D
