Charles Mingus The Great Concert Of Charles Mingus

Larrok, maybe I got confused with Lux, but it seemed to me that you had previously written that the jazz records you listened to didn't excite you. Perhaps I'm remembering wrong. Lux, there's no need to interpret what I wrote in your own way, since my statement was made in absolutely good faith.

No Larrok, probably jazz is not a type of music that you like, that's all. There is nothing that says you have to like it.

If you print this review with the comments, you could make a book... :D

The cover is beautiful anyway.

Beautiful review, emme. Just the other day I was about to buy it, then I backed off. The purchase is only postponed. I believe that a live performance by Coltrane on the same wavelength as this one is "Live at the Village Vanguard Again!" from 1966, where Coltrane "rapes" his "Naima" and "My Favorite Things," playing them free. Ajeje, you mentioned Interstellar Space...a magnificent album!
Anthony Braxton For Alto

I consider Tim Berne an excellent musician, with a rather avant-garde style similar (broadly speaking) to Zorn. I have two of his albums, and they are great; I highly recommend them to you.

I'm posting an additional comment because I've just read an interview from years ago with Roscoe Mitchell, which highlights the importance of Braxton in contemporary music. "John Zorn and Tim Berne were Braxton's students, but honestly, they're not worthy of even carrying his instrument case, not even the case. Anthony churns out ideas non-stop, and the others just copy them..." maybe a bit too strong a statement, but it makes you think about the significance of this artist.

Yes, but these people doubted because they faced a work that was quite revolutionary, and it is well known that stylistic-musical revolutions create many divisions among listeners. Fortunately, time gives the proper tribute to certain works.

Sure lux, you can doubt the beauty of BB as much as you want. After all, an album either pleases or it doesn't. The only thing that can be defined objectively in a work is its historical significance. For everything else, there's mastercard. :D
