hilarious, but I prefer the sequel. A piece of my childhood!!!

rating 3.5. Nice action movie, I’ve never seen the sequels and from what I've heard I didn't miss much, being mostly patriotic and rhetorical films!

Your review Poletti provided an overview of the entire saga!

I mostly agree with your review. In this case, a double review was needed from Poletti since yours was ridiculous because, with your usual presumption, it aimed to include a six-film saga in a single review. This review, on the other hand, more balanced, allows itself to review just one beautiful film, which never gets old, revolutionary even for the period in which it was made. The review is also well done, although I noticed a few hasty judgements and inaccuracies.

I also agree with Randolph. I am passionate about Asian cinema, and for me, the best cinema right now is Eastern. A movie like "Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring" by Kim Ki-duk, if made by a Westerner, would probably have been a boring and self-referential film, while the Asians currently have a sublime sense of imagery that turns every movie into pure poetry. There are certainly trashy films there as well, but the quality ones are numerous and manage to make you forget the trash.
Andy e Larry Wachowsky Matrix

psychopomps, when it comes to martial arts I'm not very knowledgeable, but I know enough about Eastern philosophy and quantum physics, and how everything is presented in Matrix first of all avoids mental traps, it’s simple without being trivial, and it delves much deeper than various pseudo-intellectual films, that’s why I appreciate it so much. Every character is a symbol in Matrix; it’s interesting to note that all the characters are aspects of Neo's personality: Morpheus is the mind, the wisdom, Trinity is the heart. Matrix is the same Neo who must rebel against his inner demons.

A damn good review, well done!

Beautiful, but I definitely prefer Mulholland Drive; still, it's always great cinema!
John Carpenter Essi Vivono
Voto:
You can tell that the film is made with limited means, and the pace is often slow (like many Carpenter films from the '80s), but I can't help but agree with your final rating, for the originality with which the idea of control and a Big Brother society is portrayed, for the strong message of protest. A film much more genuine than so-called historical films and also brave; in fact, it was a flop and ended up forgotten, but today it is a cult classic!

If you don't see depth, it doesn't mean it's not there. I instead find that this has been the science fiction film that has best translated martial arts, quantum physics, and Eastern philosophy into a sci-fi context in a sublime way. That the film might also be opportunistic is possible, but the concept doesn’t change. Regarding the borrowings, to be honest, I call them influences, and in any case, Matrix has been a breath of fresh air in sci-fi. While it's clear that there are many influences, they are mixed in a way that makes everything very personal. Watching it, I've never felt that it was a Blade Runner sequel, for example, because the expressed concepts are light-years apart. And then, what's strange about taking inspiration from Dick's novels? I don't understand. Some masterpieces of cinema are adaptations of written novels; 2001, for example, certainly doesn't have an original plot by Kubrick.
