Joy Division Unknown Pleasures

Joy Division are one of those rare bands that manage to express moods and emotions without intermediaries; they are direct, sincere, and therefore moving. This is a true, heartfelt album.

Asia are one of those bands that make lovers of less immediate melodies and low-sugar music simply cringe. I find them a nice group. There was a time when I was very interested in AOR (a genre that combines power and melody. Wow, I used to say back then, the perfect union). Well, Asia don’t have distorted guitars, but they do have a heritage coming from prog that ensures the arrangements (especially on the first album) are of good quality. In the end, the melodies of Asia that I know are sugary and typically 80s, so a large group of Debaser fans dislike them and I must admit I digest them poorly too. Anyway, I mean a good review, but I disagree on several points: 1_ Asia have never made the same album twice; if anything, with the first three albums, you just had to listen to one note and you could tell it was Asia. The vocalist seems to repeat the same notes, but over the years they've changed singers and also the arrangements. I have only 3 albums, and if the first is almost prog in its instrumental parts, the third has nothing prog about it, it's just a simple melodic rock album with melodies that wink at AOR. I don’t know Asia from the 90s, but I think they are another band since Downes’ voice was a distinctive trait of the group and having lost it... Anyway, a decent band...
Nevermore This Godless Endeavor

I don't agree with your review almost at all, although it's well written. For example, you say that "Final Product" is a bit repetitive, but it's a song; this isn't a prog CD—how should it have been made differently? It has the typical structure of countless metal songs and others (verse-chorus, solo, etc.), and it's the sick melody and Dane's voice that make it one of the best songs on the album. Then, your point that the songs all sound alike—I don't understand this consideration. Perhaps it would be better to say that the album is homogeneous, carrying forward a certain sound, but it doesn't seem to me that "Born" (with very "Swedish" guitars and almost on the edge of melodic death) and "Final Product" are similar. Maybe you're just too used to listening to Dream Theater, and indeed, saying that Nevermore are thrash metal is misleading. In the sense that if you place them in the thrash category, you compare them to people like Slayer, Testament, Exodus, and it seems to me that Nevermore are a bit more complex, melancholic, and melodic than that group. Nonetheless, thrash metal is certainly abundant in their music. Regarding Warrel Dane, it's not his best performance, that's true, but he can still be appreciated here.
John Carpenter La Cosa
Voto:
I adore Carpenter, and this is one of the few films of his that I don't know. I agree with the praise for In the Mouth of Madness; it might be the best horror film of the 90s (although it didn't take much, given the poor competition in that decade).
Gamma Ray Land Of The Free Part II

I completely agree with what Bartleboom said. As for power metal, I can’t stand it anymore; the whole “tackiness” debate, in my opinion, started in the second phase when it really became a genre for teenagers. However, Blind Guardian, the early Helloween, and I completely agree on Stratovarius's Episode, are a testament to a genre that, especially in the first half of the nineties, produced really interesting albums. The creative phase is now over. Anyway, the title of this album is terrible, a shameless commercial operation that copies what Helloween did last year with Keeper, exploiting the title of one of their hits to make a sequel. Pathetic. But they are likable, just likable; musically, I find them too overrated (within their own genre, even if Somewhere Out in Space is nice).
Jackie Chan Police Story

Jackie Chan, from what I've seen, has surprised me with how he blends comedy and martial arts, with a facial expression reminiscent of silent comedy films; some of his stunts are insane.
Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon

The album is beautiful, very beautiful, still high-level production, elegant arrangements, beautiful melodies, taste and class, but of course there are those who, instead of comparing the record, compare the band's history, and I don't understand why. Moreover, this album is rock; it’s neither pure psychedelia nor parlor psychedelia (as too many say)!

I wish there were more jokers like him, I listened to the song "party hard" and it’s a real goofy song, one of those that are missing in today’s music. Even the lighthearted music nowadays takes itself too seriously, so here's to these musicians who just want to entertain (and make money, of course) and they say it too...

I won't give you the maximum because in my opinion you could have avoided the introduction; I don't think anyone would have told you that there was already a review in this case. However, I understand that it’s better to be safe than sorry ;-)
