Mario Monicelli Amici miei

The film is nice (I wish they still made comedies like this in Italy), but I find it a bit too self-indulgent and the actors a bit too cocky. Or let's hope no one takes it the wrong way; this impression comes from just one viewing, it’s still a good movie.

In fact, we could use a Klaatu to get rid of these "aliens," these predators. Then again, I realize that the revolution must start from the bottom and certainly not from a space messiah. Still, as a science fiction film, it is truly one of a kind. Original for its time (when science fiction was dominated by aliens that resembled either horror literature monsters or were too human) and still original today, let's say it’s a more unique than rare case in cinematic science fiction.

In this album, the Magnum sound echoes quite a bit, it's a nice album, beautiful melodies, but I prefer them in the first two albums, the self-titled debut and "the name of the rose," which features the track "the name of the rose." Listen to that track, Elric, and perhaps you will change your mind about which is the best song by Ten and maybe of all the hard rock of the 90s (though let's be honest, there's not much choice, but it's truly an excellent track). I don't listen to sounds of this kind anymore, but the two albums remain a pleasure to hear, a rocky AOR, with a melodic taste that is distinctly European. Spellbound is also very nice, let's say more powerful, closer to metal and also to Magnum. I give the album a solid 3.5.
David Lynch Mulholland Drive
Voto:
the same advice I gave to those who criticized Lynch in this film (but especially in Lost Highway which is even less linear than this): this is great cinema and often the plot is secondary, enjoy the overall result, like a beautiful painting, maybe you don't understand its meaning but you're still mesmerized by it. What I see in Mulholland Drive is great cinema and even though after an hour in the first viewing, after LLorando, I didn’t understand a damn thing anymore, it still became one of my favorite films.
Terry Jones (Monty Python) Brian Di Nazareth
Voto:
A fun, irreverent film, at times genius and much more serious than it seems (there must be a reason why, as far as I know, it has never been broadcast on TV in Italy and why we had to wait longer than we should to see it in distribution). The rating would be 4, but I’ll also give a 5 out of respect for the Monty Python!
Ridley Scott Alien

Beautiful, yes, the second one is even better than this, there’s more action; anyway, both are masterpieces of science fiction cinema.
Adriano Pappalardo Non mi lasciare mai

Come on, the review is really funny. I would never listen to a Pappalardo album, but these are the kinds of reviews that I personally prefer. By the way, did the girl at least give you her number?
Neurosis The Eye Of Every Storm

I have to say that personally the album hasn’t stood the test of time as the previous one did with a sun..., I find it a bit soporific and less original compared to its predecessor. Of course, it remains a compositionally valid and mature record, and everything you want, but in their despair, I see less sincerity compared to the past; it feels like a rather insincere effort...

There are several inaccuracies in the comments. Just remember that the second half of the 80s was not only made up of the bands you liked. Rock never died; in the U.S., rock was very much alive and had a predominantly hedonistic, androgynous image (glam, hair metal, and AOR) that the so-called indie swept away. However, rock was always present and, at least in America, occupied a large part of the charts, which were often filled with Z-list pop and bombastic keyboards. A big shout-out to the bands (not just indie) that revitalized this approach, including Red Hot, Jane's Addiction, and in the metal realm, it was the likes of Napalm Death and Voivod that modernized the genre, among others.

Surely a masterpiece, I've been listening to it continuously for a week!
