Metallica My Apocalypse
Voto:
I will break a lance in favor of the Metallica drummer. It's known that Ulrich is a mediocre drummer, but somewhat like Ringo in The Beatles, he had a pretty personal touch that fit well into the songs and made him "unique" in that context. In fact, in "And Justice...", he doesn't even sound like himself. However, I prefer Ulrich to Portnoy (show-off who repeatedly copies Neil Peart).

Are you a true metalhead? Load isn't pop; if only they would at least go back to those sounds, it would at least be an album worth listening to, because returning to the glories of the '80s seems unlikely to me.

I've never liked them except for "world demise," which I consider their most successful and interesting album; nonetheless, they are a historic band in their genre.
Blind Guardian Nightfall In Middle Earth

This CD goes beyond power metal; it would be a crime to consider it as such. It stages Tolkien's Silmarillion and perfectly reproduces the atmospheres of the book, one of the peaks of '90s metal. In my opinion, it is a universal CD; it would be a crime to confine it solely to the metal genre. It has nothing to do with swords and dragons, but with one of the few writers who has revived the epic in the twentieth century. The Homer of our times.
Queen A Night At The Opera

a group ruined by Italian TV and advertising that keeps rehashing their most popular tracks and more, making us listen to bohemian rhapsody until we're bored out of our minds; this is one of the reasons why I stay away from a band that is nonetheless interesting.
Carcass Necroticism: Descanting The Insalubrious
Voto:
a truly awesome album, the best in my opinion from Carcass. What can I say, I'm glad I was a metalhead in the past; otherwise, I would have been biased and would have missed out on such beautiful albums. Pedigree Butchery is the best, intricate, crazy, brilliant, while the main riff of Corporal... is now history. Then comes another great album like Heartwork (more melodic and "ear-friendly," a statement to be taken with a grain of salt, we're still talking about death metal) and after that, nothing interesting to report.

Alfredo, my observation that Captain Beefheart's figure is overrated stems from the fact that I often hear unwarranted (essentially, judgments based on tastes) claims that Beefheart was a genius, unlike Zappa, which is why I consider Captain Beefheart's persona overrated. His albums can indeed be genius, but while Zappa is a composer (in the true sense of the word, not in the rock connotation) Beefheart is a good artist on whom an overly mythical aura has been created. Simply this, I don't want to take away from the Captain's value, but saying he is inferior to Zappa means knowing nothing about Zappa (and I'm not just talking about the albums, but also about his approach to music; the Captain was quite instinctive and often needed help, whereas Zappa did everything by himself). These are silly comparisons, but if such things are said, it's only right to clarify.

Many legends surround Captain Beefheart, and he is quite overrated (his albums are not overrated; it’s his persona). Zappa was certainly much further ahead than Beefheart, who was more instinctual and always needed a piece of paper to read his lyrics. Moreover, especially early in his career, he had difficulty keeping time. So read a bit more autobiographies before praising and labeling artists as geniuses. Besides, Beefheart was actually launched by Zappa; it’s not a competition about who is better, it’s simply the truth.
