In my opinion, this CD is not for everyone; I personally can’t listen to it all the way through; it’s like listening to ambient stuff! Unfortunately, I don't belong to the elite who enjoy this album, which is certainly fascinating! To appreciate it, I think one needs to take a break, be alone in their room, and focus on the sounds that the CD produces; a superficial listening doesn’t say much.

After several listens, I feel I have to lower the rating of the album, which is not long-lasting!

Well done Roby, you got it! Give it several listens that it deserves, even if you started with one of the most criticized albums by Rush, I love it, but I'm biased. Make sure to listen to Bastille Day and Fountain of Lamneth as well! Anyway, I have to tell the truth, I don’t hear Steve Walsh, for me the singer of Rush in the 70s (especially in the early phase) resembles Plant a lot, but in this album his voice is less shrill and piercing! This is a great transitional album, positioned between the hard rock phase of their beginnings and the prog phase that will come later (especially starting from A Farewell to Kings)!

a super-hyped band loved by the hipsters, still not bad, especially since with this album they achieve a fairly unique sound and manage to create great songs. Nice band but not transcendent. 3.5!

The first sentence you wrote, I didn't understand it, but whatever! Anyway, you can say whatever you want, as long as you don't offend and come off as a pretentious know-it-all in this review. Rush are a band that is anything but trivial, but even if they had only written catchy tunes, music as an experience is subjective and must evoke emotion, so de gustibus applies. In the end, a jazz aficionado could come and tell you that you are musically ignorant because you listen to kraut-rock.

great album, possibly the heaviest and most hard-rocking of Rush, just look at how pissed off Geddy Lee is in "Anthem" and Peart himself performing mile-high acrobatics. Great album!

Are the Rush all about technique at all costs? Have you ever actually listened to them or are you just the usual teenager speaking from hearsay? Write a piece yourself with the feeling and technique of Villa Strangiato, write direct pieces without being cocky and, despite everything, played incredibly well! What do Faust have to do with Rush, what lousy comparisons are you making! If you don’t like Rush, just say: "I don’t like them, never could stand them," but you can't come here acting like a little professor.
