Together with Once by Nightwish (which, personally, I consider more power than gothic) and The Black Halo by Kamelot, the best power album in two years.

I feel particularly fond of this album that introduced me to Alice.
Great review. Poison and House of Fire (including the videos) shaped my childhood (I was 12 at the time).
You're poison, poison running through my veins
You're poison, I don't want to break these chains........

For Sanjuro: your comment shows exclusively an unjustified aversion to the album (which is the best of Metallica and one of the best, if not the best of Thrash).
1) In my opinion (a purely personal consideration), your judgment stems from a bias against the band (as demonstrated by your subsequent assumption about the alleged sexual tendencies of its members) that prevents you from being objective towards MOP (I would understand if you were commenting on the duds of the last albums, but honestly giving this a 1 means, in my opinion, either you don’t know the genre or, as I said, you are biased);
2) This consideration is supported by the fact that you literally said: "Metallica, or combining Misfits and Black Sabbath"; excuse me, but have you even listened to the album, and, above all, have you ever listened to Sabbath and the Misfits? It’s true that the bands in question (especially the Misfits, to the point that the late Burton had their logo tattooed on his shoulder) have been among those that influenced the band, but to say that Metallica is the result of their union, allow me, seems like a huge nonsense; 3) Personally, I don’t know Bad Brains, and therefore I would never dare to comment on them; however, I do know that they play hardcore punk. Well, you tell me what the hell they have to do with Metallica? It’s like saying that Back in Black sucks and that, in comparison, London Calling by the Clash is a great album and worth much more.
No hard feelings, but your (absolutely legitimate, mind you) criticisms, in my opinion, don’t hold up at all.

May I say that I find the review a bit ugly?
