Always for Airone: reading some of your comments beyond those related to this album, I've noticed that you are now saturated with gothic, power, black music and whatever else (perhaps all metal in general)... Since I am of a certain age and heaven forbid I experience such a mystical crisis too, I would like to know what kind of music you are currently listening to so that I could get some suggestions in that case, ;-D

Hi Airone, I largely agree with your thoughts. My viewpoint only diverges on Nightwish. The first two albums, in my opinion, could even be defined as gothic, and if framed in that genre, I dare say that Oceanborn is a remarkable gothic album. The last three, on the other hand, have definitely taken a power turn, and although Wishmaster doesn't really resonate with me, I humbly consider Century Child and Once to be excellent albums, especially the latter, which I view as one of the most beautiful power albums of the past couple of years alongside Black Halo by Kamelot. Musically, they convey intense emotions to me, especially thanks to Holopainen's keyboard melodies, perhaps the best keyboardist in the genre... then again, as someone would say, de gustibus.

True Ugly, in fact I like all the Cult albums up to Ceremony; the later ones are, however (except for a few songs like Coming Down) not as good.
P.S.: I consider Sonic Temple a great album.

The nice thing, among other things, about this ghost is that he came to my review on Edguy to tell me that they don’t understand a damn thing about metal… From what you've written about Slipknot, I deduce that the one who doesn’t understand a damn thing is you… I may be conservative, but for me, the TRUE metal remains the classic, with all the respect I can have for (some) nu-metal bands like Korn (and not the bad copy Limp Bizkit tried to be). Don’t take it personally, Cool, I’m just sharing what I think.

I must apologize to everyone who read my review for a glaring mistake due to distraction that I caught upon rereading it.... The band Duffy was part of is Theatre of Hate, not Theater of Pain (a slip of attention since that's the name of a Motley Crue album). Sorry...

Hi Philo, the album itself is obviously not gothic, but it has significant gothic and dark veins... (especially in the songs mentioned in my review)
Let it be noted that this is not only my opinion but also that of many music critics, so much so that, as I've already written, the Cult’s first two albums were often compared (a bit forcefully, to tell the truth) to people like Sisters of Mercy and Mission.

Well done, Airone, you have highlighted the lyrical aspect of the album, and I am also aware of the Homeric evocation of the work (and this is not mentioned in the review, which is why my rating is neutral). What I meant to say is that, in my opinion, musically the band in Wolfheart has perfectly blended Nordic and Latin atmospheres, combining typically Gothic and Nordic sounds with other ethnic and, therefore, warmer ones in a mix that borders on perfection.

Hello Norveheim, I have to say you got ahead of me because I intended to review this album myself, which, in my opinion, as you yourself said, is one of the greatest (if not the greatest) gems of the entire Gothic metal scene.
The review is good (even though I see just a hint of black metal, but nothing more), but, in my view, to convey the greatness of the album in all its aspects, you should have lingered a bit more on the epic dimension of the opus, which is a concept through which the band has sought (successfully, I might add) to set to music a typically Nordic epic landscape and transport it to the warmer Iberian locations.
Nor, in my opinion, is it a symptom of the fascinating mix between the cold Gothic influence and the warm ethnic flavor that comes through when listening to this magnificent album....
