Indeed, that sentence had slipped past me.
I agree with Lethe, Katatonia have released other outstanding albums, among them, in my opinion, Viva Emptiness and Tonight's Decision.

Yes, but that interview, as I read from Ondarock, was done to describe October Rust and not Bloody Kisses.
Then, maybe, but I don't hear even a note of the Beatles (regardless of what Pete himself says in an interview that still needs to be verified) in either album.
He might be influenced by them, but saying that some songs have Beatles-like echoes is a stretch.
Too Late, undoubtedly a musically positive song compared to many others made by the Types, is more easy-going. But I feel confident in excluding the possibility of Lennon and the gang’s reminiscences, absolutely.
If that were the case, we could say that this Life is Killing Me, which sounds musically less dark than its predecessors, has influences from the Beach Boys!
Then, aside from the interview that Pete might have given, I’m starting to not tolerate those who relentlessly seek out comparisons that are, I repeat, unlikely.
Take Scaruffi, for example, who claims that October Rust sounds like the Sisters of Mercy.
Fine, but I wonder, has he actually listened to October Rust? Has he listened closely to the Sisters of Mercy?
For heaven's sake, the Types might have been influenced by the sisters, but where does he see the post-punk influences of the early demos of the Sisters in October Rust? Where does he hear the dark, brief, and direct ballads of First and Last and Always? Is there any electronic line reminiscent of Floodland in October Rust?
Any easy-rock tracks like Vision Thing?
None of this. But since October Rust sounds much darker compared to the previous ones, the good Scaruffi attaches the Sisters of Mercy to it. Hmm... I apologize for the digression, nonetheless.

Excuse me, Sen, but where, in which songs?

Hi Ocram, I'm dropping by because you're really enjoyable to read, but this time, I find myself agreeing with Donjunio. I don’t totally disdain glam, mind you, (when I was young, Tyketto's Forever Young drove me crazy (more street rock, to be honest) and Enuff Z' Nuff's Fly High Michelle), but I honestly find Poison extremely degrading and the most gaudy and insipid product of that era. If I really had to mention a band that has fallen into the background compared to Poison, it would be Chip Z' Nuff's band (if I remember correctly, that was the name of the singer from Enuff Z' Nuff). They were also extreme in their clothing and attitude like Poison, but they played melodic rock that I found quite appealing, not straightforward, in my opinion, like Bret's.

I usually don't like growl vocals at all, but, as always, there are exceptions.
This is a very depressing album, darker than pitch, I absolutely agree.
And it's fair to redo the reviews when the first one (the one from whatoormet, or whatever it's called) was far from successful. Well done, today that the weather is bad I'm listening to it again in the car.

Ozzy (it feels a bit odd to call you that), just so you know, the comparison with Wolfheart and Irreligious was your idea in your review ("If, instead, you love the primal sounds straddling Black Metal and Gothic of 'Wolfheart' and 'Irreligious', then you'll never be able to do without this album.."), I simply responded to that passage, that's all.
You're right, comparing Memorial to the first two is a mistake, because the difference is immense.
As for the 1 rating, there’s nothing to be done; for me, Memorial deserves a solid 1 since I've listened to it, at most, a couple of times with great effort, and that was enough for me.
An album that I listen to so little and one that I have no desire to revisit can only be rated a 1 in my view.
As for everything else, you are free to recreate my review portfolio if you wish; no one is stopping you, of course.
And it’s only right that there are different points of view. Regards.

For that matter, Steele has also performed other questionable covers, like that of N.I.B. by Sabbath.

I'll respond to you, Chuck, without involving Scaruffi.
There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about the Beatles in Type O Negative.
I hope you appreciate the frankness and straightforwardness of my message.

Poletti, you're not funny. Didn't you say you were leaving? Come on, go on.
