written really well! them, never heard of.
Anathema Pentecost III

great, well written. I really like Anathema. "Serenades," "Eternity," and "The Silent Enigma" are excellent albums, then it seems they lost their way (cleaned up and overly "pinkfloydized," if you’ll allow me the expression). I sold "Alternative 4" after a week, and then nothing...

"Sucking The 70's"!!! Small Stone Records, a grandiose double album. Back in 2002, it opened up the whole world for me: bands like Clutch, Glasspack, Raging Slab, Los Natas, Alabama Thunderpussy, Porn (The Men Of) with the most absurd and massive Neil Young cover you could ever listen to, then Fireball Ministry, Spirit Caravan, Broadsword, Lord Sterling, etc. but the best of the bunch have always been them... THE HEADS! For Madmen Only by May Blitz in their hands turns into molten lead!!! I love them. This review is fabulous. I love you guys...

Yes, I managed to download it last night. I just listened to the first two tracks (is there no trace of the legendary echoplex or am I wrong?) and it seems to me that the overall tone is very 60s, very traditional and -you’re absolutely right- infinitely cleaner than the debut. I don’t know, I’ve always liked a bit of grit in the mix… we’ll see, I need to listen to the whole thing more carefully. Would you write the review? (It seems almost mandatory at this point…)

I agree with ngw's comment but only out of preconceived notions (I stopped listening to them after "A Thousand Leaves") even if the review - very well written - pushes in a completely different direction. "Sister," their album that I loved the most, led me to discover tons of music, I care about these people but I no longer feel the need to listen to them...
Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan Ballad Of The Broken Seas

you’re missing the point: neither specialized magazines nor cultural spheres matter - but I have a couple of issues that are of a completely different nature. the point (my dear signo low.fi, on DeBaser there are no "enemies", just people who can comment on what you write, make that clear) is that omitting Campbell - from the title and from your four lines - effectively passing off the album as a work of Mark Lanegan is bullshit, not just an oversight. to me, your review reads like a joke, forgive me. in other cases I would have avoided commenting, but not on this album and not in relation to these artists. end.
