I knew I was exposing myself :)... just to be clear, I don't doubt Frank's guitar skills or his immense inspiration (I mean, you know what he means to me): first of all, I was talking about albums and not live performances, and maybe I expressed myself poorly. The problem wasn't the "idea" and the beauty of the solo; I mean that even when it might have been avoided, he tended to include it as a common practice: perhaps too caught up in his great guitar prowess to be able to conceive a song without a solo? How can I put it, every song is unique, and maybe too much is too much (I also say that some of Frank's solos from the 80s seem a bit lacking in ideas...)

I recommend you also get the DVD of "the dub room special" by Frank, because it features a conversation with Napoleon Murphy about a phone call between the two regarding room service at a hotel........(not to mention all the amazing music that's there!)
