It seems to me that a long time ago I had heard this record. Unfortunately, I remember that it disappointed me a lot; maybe I'm mistaken, or more likely, at that distant time I didn't yet have the necessary openness of mind. I'll listen to it again (if I find it somewhere) and let you know.

Cleansing is the only album by Prong that I own, and I think it made quite an impact. If you say it's worth it, I would say that when I find myself in the mid-price section again, I'll try 'Beg to Differ'.

eh eh eh... nice this punisher, I admit I asked for it. This review is quite mediocre, okay... I published 4 in a row simply because I discovered this site yesterday, and I had already written these reviews on my blog (http://piazzagrande.blog.tiscali.it/).
Alright, alright, I could have spared myself this one, but only because it's poorly written and lacking imagination, because the group, even though I gave it 3 stars (I really wanted to give it just 2), is interesting for a certain type of audience.
We cool?

Zion, we agree, for me the term "commercial" is not derogatory. Maceo Parker is definitely more commercial, in the sense of being more catchy than many jazz musicians; catchiness has never been a sin in the world of music! On the contrary! I concede that we are in agreement. Mr. Nobody, in fact, I misjudged my words; I appreciate the constructive criticism!

You wreck carriages.. you’re great.
I noticed that this de-review is quite limited; unfortunately, while the album is interesting, it didn't inspire me much. I reiterate, however, that it’s an album worth buying for fans of REM and that kind of '80s Rock.

I lift the veil on the nickname... nothing transcendental or philosophical... it’s the enchantment of Maga Magò in Mickey Mouse... sorry if you were expecting something better, but anyway this nickname sounds nice. Let's say I'm Italian but I've lived quite a bit in France (see link rotto but anyway, no one cares, except for the fact that I can confirm that Italy, with its masked hero, constantly makes a fool of itself across the border; you absolutely have to see the "guignols de l'info" where they make fun of Berlusconi. As for this album, we all agree, an impressive creative vein. Congratulations to Vinicio.

For everyone: first of all, there are no stepchildren in music, or musical genres that are less noble than others. I even consider Boy Bands (with difficulty I admit) a musical genre like any other, let alone if I have to spit on funk... I start from the assumption that the appreciation of music is subjective, and so if there is a population that loves Brian, Call, Steven & CO, it means I haven't been able to appreciate all the nuances of their work...
Returning to the topic, Maceo is fundamental for jazz... Maceo is crucial for introducing young people like me to jazz music. I find it hard to believe that a kid wakes up one morning after listening to pop rock his whole life and goes to buy Kind of Blue. At most, even if he buys it, he will start his review with "du palle". I think we need to approach music through artists who connect different musical styles well. I see in my circle (I grew up in France) that only rap is listened to, not even pop or rock, just rap. From rap, one easily transitions to funk since rap is based on sampling pieces from the '70s from James Brown to Zapp & Roger, from Bar Kays to Ohio Players, from Trouble Funk to SOS Band. From funk, one can easily move to jazz, as it traces the tree of musical evolution in reverse, and Maceo has a more commercial style (not in a negative sense) that can appeal to everyone and spark interest in other things.

For ringhiostarr: well, 4 stars doesn’t seem like little to me; I think we agree that it’s a very beautiful album. However, I reserve 5 stars for the albums that I consider (and this is subjective) unique, such as Dark Side Of The Moon, or the famous Live at the Apollo by James Brown.
