In my opinion, it is, and quite a bit (overrated). Some texts are pure poetry, sharp, biting, wicked yet at the same time romantic, realistic and dreamy all at once. A genius of the pen, in short. A bit less of a genius in musical terms. Since we are talking about music and not poetry, I can't say it’s the best that has ever existed. Although some other great Italian singer-songwriters (like Guccini, for example) have never shone in the compositional phase either. I agree that he is an excellent singer-songwriter. However, the fact that he is "praised" in an exaggerated way is undeniable.

I personally believe that De André was overly overrated. An excellent lyricist and poet, but a mediocre composer. The beginning of his career is (in terms of ideas and inspiration) markedly superior to the latter part (a classic for all artists) of it. At the same time, in the final part of his career, he sought new arrangements that deviated somewhat from the initial "chitarra e bon." Overall, this album is a 3.5-4 in my opinion. Like most of his albums.
