Not 4 lp + 1 ep... we’re talking about four "new" (but even this term would need revisiting when it comes to nin) albums of songs (lp or whatever you want to call them) plus an ep, remixes, a live album, singles, and other proper cds that aren’t considered as such... In sixteen years they’ve produced (that is, Reznor has churned out) a total of 19 halos... 19, not five... let’s not get confused please... it’s not as easy as it seems to talk about the nin discography...

I agree with you, Perez. There are some characters in the music world who tend to indulge in self-satisfaction; it’s not a great thing, but they remain great... I would hold off on saying that Maynard is going downhill; for me, it’s not the same thing, since Tool is a band made up of four members (including a certain Adam Jones, not sure if you’re familiar...), while NIN has always been the creation of a single person, Reznor...

It's a bit like when the last Tool album comes out, it will be less beautiful than Lateralus. Would anyone point a finger at Tool or Maynard himself?? And how could they, considering Lateralus is perfection?? How can one create a superior album? It's already quite an achievement for a band to have a masterpiece in their discography; think of NIN who have two, one of which is arguably one of the most important albums (in my opinion, the Album with a capital A) of the last fifteen years... I mean, what do we expect?? Ascension to heaven? The mystification of Reznor?? He’s a genius, but he’s still just a man...

Personally, I believe that Reznor is a genius, but as someone has already said, he is also a human being... In my opinion, the album cannot and should not be compared to what was done before Mr. Reznor, because it would be absurd. Every album is and must be placed in a context, its appropriate context, without considering what came before... If I did that, I would have to take my copy of With Teeth and throw it like a frisbee on the street, because it’s evident how, compared to The Downward Spiral and The Fragile (the latter truly Reznor's masterpiece), With Teeth is mediocre... However, I believe that the album is a great album, very valid, with incredible songs (in my humble opinion, All the Love in the World, Everyday Is Exactly the Same, With Teeth, Sunspot, Beside You in Time, and Right Where It Belongs are incredible), and others that are less beautiful. Certainly far better than many albums that come out... Sure, it’s not The Downward Spiral... Sure, it’s not The Fragile... It’s With Teeth, and it should be taken for what it is, a really good album. Even if expectations have been somewhat betrayed...

Godano has made an excessive use of hard drugs, and it shows even now... I knew he had stopped for a while, but he started again, and it shows even now... moreover, this doesn't please me, not so much for him, but for the music: I must have seen them at most three or four times, plus three or four times on TV, and never (I mean never) once has Godano managed to sing decently: not once: never.
In my opinion, for a group like theirs, it's quite a flaw...
Rather, I'd prefer a good Manuel Agnelli who still grabs your balls and crushes them while he sings...

Beautiful review, stunning album. Steve Wilson is a genius... He navigates through psychedelic and progressive albums with incredible skill... I discovered them with In Absentia (recommended by my art history teacher, it's his favorite band) and from there I went backwards... magnificent...
