THE REVIEW

Speaking of pure and hardcore independent music labels, the English Fat Cat definitely deserves a mention, and so I am happy to talk about this group with their first album: Tales From The Sitting Room, a work of five years. In fact, during all this time, the collective Stromba - the moniker is taken from the name of an anabolic steroid - has released only two singles, and now here is the great work all at once.

This album is a gem, instrumental music in a jazz-downtempo style that spans nu-jazz, funk, chill out, dub, glitch, hip hop, and post rock atmospheres with a significant presence of instrumental elements and precious samples.
The decisive factor that makes this collective, led by producers James Dyer and Tom Tyler, interesting is nevertheless the attitude: we are facing pure freak genius.

Tales From The Sitting Room is an intoxicating substance capable of making you travel, just as only certain good jazz records know how to do...
