about "octopus" I heard it too...what can I say: quite a heavy brick. It reminded me of the old prog albums from the 70s, it all sounds like a big jam session recorded; some tracks are spectacular, others less so, and some are incredibly dull. Maybe they went a bit overboard, or perhaps the album requires time and patience to be understood, words that seem out of time in the "virtual" era.

I had seen them exactly 10 years ago at the Independent, as you mentioned (before the Bizkit and the Blink who got stoned!), but I NEVER would have expected that TODAY they would surpass that performance (it was the White Pony tour and they were in full form). More than once, standing in the crowd, I found myself shaking my head and saying with a grin, "I can't believe it... I can't believe it... I can't believe it!!!"... obviously in a positive way! The only flaw was the volume: with the amps turned inward towards the stage, there wasn't the wall of sound that I like.... But come to think of it, the real flaw was the turnout, quite poor.... FUCK THEM!

very very very nice album. I had "limited" myself to appreciating Heliocentric only from a musical standpoint. I wasn't aware of the precise themes. Anyway, great record, very diverse sounds, less growl and more atmospheres. My favorite is Firmament, the right balance between Cult of Luna and Oceansize.
