The New Christs Distemper

Don's final thought finds me in full agreement... I saw Cobain & co. at the Bloom in Mezzago in '91 when hardly anyone cared about them (a monstrous concert) and then in '94 in Milan, surrounded by parents bringing their little kids to see the latest "myth." On stage, he was completely detached from everything and everyone, and indeed (also for this reason) he left in that way... He was playing a game entirely his own, and I think the Captain is right in saying that "grunge" hasn't changed anything; it just had the luck of bringing good rock back to the top of the charts... As for the issue that Nevermind had been coded by the Pixies with Surfer Rosa, I’ll say in this little game that Black & Friends owe a lot to Naked Raygun... and this could go on forever.

I discovered Nirvana with Bleach and I wasn't surprised at all when Cobain once said that he listened almost exclusively to the Beatles and Black Sabbath... and the Melvins :-)))))

Strangely :-))) I see it a bit like supersoul... I've always found them too trendy... I had a copy of the cassette with this and sick (I had an older friend who had everything, I mean everything, and he used to pass us insane tapes), which is probably still in the closet in the basement at my parents'... but then tracks like I.C.love affair... thumbs down

You’re right, maybe I expressed myself poorly... they had already given their best with an "old" model of making and thinking about music, indeed I say (and I missed a piece) that in '76 they released Boys Are... which is something else, new, and doesn't really resemble their past anymore... which for me remains the best... I hope I made myself clear... :-))

The same story for the Eagles, who in '76 reap the rewards (and what rewards) with Hotel California... Fleetwood Mac are a bit of a special case... they've always been quite unpredictable, and in my opinion, the masterpiece comes with Tusk (1979), but even here they were already (much) something else... oh, I almost forgot about Boston... they debut in 1976...

Wow... thanks for stopping by. @Spirit, my opinion is just as legitimate as yours... Thin Lizzy in '76 were doing Boys Are Back In Town... if you allow me, they had given their best, just like Budgie, Slade, and Lucifer's Friend in the early '70s. Rush in '76 changed direction with 2112 and Queen abandoned the sounds they started with, releasing Bohemian Rhapsody in '75. Journey made their debut in 1975, and I never liked Styx and Kansas... as you can see, you threw around a few names at random, but thanks to these names, I see my point strengthened that by the mid-'70s rock was folding in on itself, and those who were there were changing (also look at Bowie with Heroes, the reference to the new wave is spot on, but before it was something else) and those who weren't there were fitting into the new wave... that's all.
