The last truly beautiful album by Knopfler... even though I remain attached to Making Movies, the first "real" album I fell in love with as a kid. Today, in hindsight, I prefer the first two albums, the ones with Mark's brother, David, in the lineup... Great review, really... These are the "duplicates" that deserve it...

Beautiful... truly a beautiful interpretation, well-written and with expertise. The only note (if we can even call it that) comes from the fact that I remember discovering Nirvana through Bleach thanks to an older and more knowledgeable friend, and when this was released, I was thrilled. But the success came later (a few months after, even in their homeland), demonstrating the good faith of Cobain and the others, who created (or tried to create) a sincere and genuine album that, as you rightly say, spoke to the common sentiment of an entire generation. The media, the constant need for heroes and idols of the masses... did the rest... including pushing Cobain further to the edge of the abyss.
