Anyway, you might be right saying that nu-metal is part of the big family of heavy metal, but here the point, in my opinion, is another: we need to make a distinction between quality metal and metal played just for the sake of making money!!! The distinction between nu and old may seem ridiculous, although it doesn’t really seem so to me, because there’s a clear difference between the two; the name itself says it, damn it: nu "new" and old "old," they are two types of metal played in different ways. With the argument you made, we also justify the fact that bands like Linkin Park are compared to the big names in metal and that they create quality metal (this is not an insult, we’re trying to reason....). There is metal played with heart and metal played with ass.
