In my opinion, sometimes we are forced to look down on an album simply because it was released in 2001 (like in this case), and we don’t feel (rightly so) in a position to exalt it, as the feeling of déjà vu is always stronger. However, we are used to thinking too much like demanding alternative rockers who are never satisfied. Try putting on the latest AC/DC album and then immediately after this one... it’s incredible how Fugazi are always and in every way CLEARLY superior to the average, despite all the limitations of inspiration that affect this Argument.

Should I perhaps apologize to someone? The situation is unclear to me. Anyway, if you want, I can change my statement and say that Opeth are the main innovators of all popular music since the days of Duane Eddy; it doesn’t change anything for me at all. Also, because Opeth are the ones I remember most fondly among the many metal bands, just think about how much I want to be cool when talking about them.

Well, anyway, I think the production is "right," almost low-fi for them, so honest and free of frills, which I must admit, begrudgingly and after all, is true. Also, because those who truly believe that Opeth invented something are mostly just listening to Metal. That said, to be fair, not all metal bands can pull off "Face of Melinda."

Everyone talks about free citationism and lack of originality when they want to criticize Socialismo Tascabile, but I had never heard before the birth of this album a satirical declamation à la Ferretti over a soundscape à la Mogwai set to electronic tracks in the style of Neu! like that of Tono Metallico Standard. I don't know, maybe the heavy guitar solos of Dave Murray are more original, maybe I'm just not getting it. Just like lyrics such as Fear Of The Dark will be better when they recite "Paura del Buio, Paura del Buio, ho un costante timore che qualcuno si avvicini sempre, Paura del Buio Paura del Buio, ho terrore che qualcuno stia sempre là." Undoubtedly, it's me who is mistaken.
