Sure, should I waste time explaining why McCartney and the Beatles would be overrated? But it's OBVIOUS, just listen to OTHER stuff, esteemed one(!). It goes without saying that I don't give a damn about the fact that they're rich and famous, and I certainly don't use that reason to downplay them. That's just a logical consequence of the primary concept that sees the Beatles as a family band. But please, enough with this bullshit about snobbish prejudices, enough already, it's so tiresome, just listen to something else and create a dignified method to discern the beautiful from the less beautiful. I'm fed up with this story that wants those who listen to "niche music" to be guilty of I don't know what. Enough, art has never been the prerogative of the people, much less of the Mass Media, much less of the Beatles and McCartney, that's well known, but it's much easier to attack those who listen to "alternative music" (what a horrible expression) rather than candidly admitting that one lacks the ability or desire to appreciate certain things. Besides, there's always someone who comes out and tells you "it's all relative"... enough, for heaven's sake, I'm giving up. Long live the Fab Four!

McCartney and X Factor. In fact, these two elements rest on a cultural/musical continuum shaped by a shared family, yawn.

Tracks like "Diamondd" and "Leyendecker" would fit perfectly, just to say, in an album like "Toxicity." It's true, in fact Ddiamond sounds like what SOAD would sound like in 100 years.. and that's what makes them special, the ability to update the sound of the 90s for today (and the future). High Tech Schizophrenia, which hints at past references but reshapes them into something new. And indeed, once the production is concluded, a Ddiamond turns out to be very different from any track on Toxicity, indeed from any piece by SOAD. The filter is completely different, the perception it stimulates, the way it expresses feeling, the images it communicates.. everything. Yet structurally one can very well assert that it possesses a reference to SOAD. It simply gathers and effectively synthesizes the sensibility of the new decade (and the ones to come), and for this reason alone, Battles have a reason to exist. "It's something that has never been seen before" is an expression that wasn’t even used when The Modern Dance came out.. with this reference "to the absolute" everything can seem old or overused, depending on the type of conversation being had. However, nothing originates ex novo in a temporal vacuum, everything has a reference to the past. It is the quality of the reference that should matter.
