I don't know, theory... harmony... feels very academic to me, and I've been avoiding connecting academia to Rock for a while. Good for you if you have expertise in that area nonetheless, no doubt!

In my opinion, it is almost irrelevant to know how to play an instrument in order to criticize an album... because when we criticize with awareness, the discussion shifts to a cultural perspective. Easycure (I think) draws from the thoughts and ideas of incredibly important rock critics (Lester Bangs is THE CRITIC), so it's not exactly trivial or subjective... of course, one can agree or disagree. And how would you know if Easycure knows what Baroque is?? Anyway, I find Muse to be quite hypocritical overall. And the vocal lines are all the same, for crying out loud!
