Emerson, Lake & Palmer Trilogy

Well, the fact that progressive rock is often snubbed by certain critics is a given. Many purists do not accept the intellectualization of rock (the progressive), and love the expressiveness and immediacy of communication (like punk). From what I've understood, in fact, punk is one of the genres most loved by critics (don't tell me who, because I don't know, but it should be so).

I'd say you earned it with Queen II :-)

Perhaps Judgment, of the trilogy, is slightly superior to the other two... the fact is that all three don't impress me much...

To me, "the man in front of you" is repugnant... baroque in its arrangements, and Vasco's singing reaches one of its lowest peaks. Not to mention the lyrics, to say the least obscene and elementary... However, I really like ...Stupendo and Valzer di gomma. Gabri has lyrics that sound like they’re from a pedophile (though musically it’s not too bad, despite being super baroque and rhetorical as well). Vivere tends towards the pathetic, Lo show is rock from two cents (as I see it, of course). I consider the album useless from a purely historical standpoint (derivative compared to previous records, but also compared to rock in general). Oh, I almost forgot, Non appari mai... well, insignificant is putting it mildly!

Useless, like the vast majority of his albums.

Sure Sotanaht, it's the most expressive album by Anathema. After The Silent Enigma, they became rhetorical, feigned psychedelic, whiny. They want to be decadent, sad, and depressive. But they fail miserably (in my opinion), primarily due to the trivial and shabby melodies of their songs, and also because of the overall musical evanescence (Albums like eternity, A fine day to exit (really awful), Judgment, for instance). It seems I read somewhere that Anathema weren't very well-loved by Rock critics. I understood why when, some time ago, I listened to their albums.
