MMM, in my incompetence regarding this, I would have categorized it more as industrial than noise ;-)

Exactly Sorciopeloso, it was one fine day. I really like Living in Chaos from that album.

very good sorciopeloso, it’s true, the songs on Americana overall aren’t produced "more cleverly" or that much more mainstream compared to the earlier albums. It’s just that "Why don’t you get a job" didn’t sit well with the purists (sure, it’s TROOOPPO Easy listening, and that’s undeniable). Not to mention Pretty Fly, which became a summer hit (and not just a summer hit). However, songs like pay the man and, have you ever, The kids aren't alright, staring at the sun wouldn’t have looked out of place on the previous albums. The real dilemma, anyway, is self-plagiarism. Americana is very beautiful (the title track), but it is identical to smash (the title track). Walla Walla also seems to remind me of another song, overall there’s a sense of recycling.

Yes, but we also need to avoid falling into the dichotomy: Alternative rock=great, Everything else=absolute rubbish. We must know how to pick the flower even from the mainstream (understood in a broad sense). Not by Battles & Slint alone does man live!

AHAHAHAH what have you dug up! There was already a whiff of self-plagiarism around here… The Meaning Of Life is really nice… anyway, Smash is not only not the debut album, but it’s even better than this… come outta and plaaaaaay!

Well well, putting one on this record.. well well..
Nine Inch Nails The Downward Spiral

I've started listening to it every day again. It's incredible how it can be so incredibly catchy, danceable, and at the same time noisy, alienated, and crazy. With this album, substance and form reach a perfect synthesis.

Yes, however I was speaking of cultural revolution as a change in mindset, an internal individual revolution, an awareness of two specific states: Those who possess a certain sensitivity, and those who do not. When I talk about culture, I am not referring to books and "medieval" dogmas and Traditionalism, but to the empathetic perception of life. The revolutions in the squares horrify me as well; they play into the hands of the dominant culture, have become institutionalized, and are harmless and conservative.

Ah, here we are, talking about the same things Rorix… it’s just that for you it’s ā€œinnovation,ā€ for me it’s a lack of ideas.
