Negativland Fair Use: The Story Of The Letter U And The Numeral 2

simply terrible. If this is avant-garde... it sounds like listening to the radio from GTA3.

Nice review, I should listen to the album again because I don’t remember it well.. Chinese Whispers was awesome.

Someone had to explain to the Melvins that music is also form, not just content. It’s not only about the attitude to convey meanings, but also about meanings that are outlined and CLEAR. This is not a clear record; rather, it's disjointed, as Pretazzo put it. It’s obvious they have the potential, but they lack a bit of pure aesthetic taste.

In fact, I was talking about qualitative comparisons between the best Neurosis and Panopticon. The former are three spans above the latter (from my perspective). Then I forgot to mention that for me Neurosis ends with ASTNS. The Eye of bla bla didn't sit well with me (aside from a couple of tracks, which by now sounded repetitively tiring). Celestial, yes, it gets there with Neurosis; in fact, I defined it as the most derivative (clearly inspired by the style of Neurosis). What I meant to say is that a TSIB by Neurosis is a masterpiece (and it is their most representative work), while Panopticon is far from a masterpiece (in my opinion, and it's apparently the most representative work of Isis). It was a qualitative comparison, in short, not a genre one. This post-rock played in the guise of post-hardcore doesn't convince me, as you may have well understood.

Bartleboom, for me, Power is the inferior genre of rock (well, one of the genres), and I say this without mincing words. I talked about contradictions because the reviewer still wrote a clear, objective, and "critical" review in the literal sense of the term; he made us perfectly understand that the album is a bit of a mess. Yet, perhaps out of affection or a certain magnanimity, he gave it a 4, which clashes with his otherwise clear analysis. He spoke of zero innovation, zero originality, of "art" in remixing the same old Power clichés that have been afflicting us for over a decade. He described it as "an excellent grandmother's minestrone reheated for at least 4 days"... clearer than that! As for the plagiarism, I don't think we need to go hunting for it with a lantern; it will be glaringly obvious and shamelessly presented (like a song by no world order that has the SAME refrain as Painkiller... a disgrace!). A record like this, personally, I cannot enjoy all at once. If it's a cheap trick to snatch up old power metal enthusiasts, this album deserves a 1. Then yes, the reviewer tries to justify his 4 in the review, but if an album has particular flaws (as mentioned by the cold itself), there can’t be another side of the coin that pushes us "to enjoy it," because with these flaws, it’s impossible to enjoy it in my opinion. It's like telling you to enjoy a football match that you already know will be "fixed." The best Power albums are (in my opinion) the early ones by Helloween, the first Gamma Ray isn't bad, Episode by Stratovarius had a genuine freshness (that Visions completely lacked)... but none of these are masterpieces, just decent albums (or containing decent tracks) but nothing more (again, in my opinion). That underlying tackiness unfortunately detracts from it all.

Shameless commercial work, nice review but you contradict yourself a bit: you admit that the album is derivative and absolutely not original, then you give it 4 stars.. you understand, now they’re even starting to plagiarize Maiden.. don’t they want to end up being the DT of Power Hansen and the others? I haven’t listened to the album, but I’ll vote based on trust. P.S.: Rebellion in Dreamland is one of the most beautiful songs of power (but even the original LOTF wasn't a masterpiece), if they had stopped there many shitty little bands would have…

Never particularly loved, yet I prefer this to Panopticon, a post-rock brick that has nothing to do with Neurosis (in terms of quality), yet has been unfairly associated with them. Celestial is the most derivative and paradoxically the best. Which says a lot.
