The most personal (and probably unique) side of Queen was represented by their parodying of every rock influence they touched, much like Faith no More did in Metal. The pinnacle of parody is represented by ANATO. They used the cliché and simultaneously denied it in a melodramatically parodic way. Many who label them as such probably continue to take them seriously, attributing an "ontological" weight to each of their baroque arrangements, but it is evident that in a piece like Nevermore, Freddie plays the ultrapathetic role of a loser abandoned by his woman (man??), without ever actually being what he sings and plays, due to that parodistic detachment. If you don’t look at Queen this way (and I don’t see how it’s possible), they certainly come across as ridiculous.

Nothing to say about Billy Gould, indeed... I eat biscuits & caviar, I'm not stupid... As for Durst, he was a poor guy coming out of a dirty, violent suburb, a frustrated man cheated on by his wife like many others, who tattooed to get by, and on the first album, I would say all this comes out sincerely. What happened afterwards, well, happened afterwards. Faced with money, he made a very specific choice, but you can't judge his intentions by listening to Three Dollar. Even admitting that he’s a son of a good woman and a real phony, but who cares? We don’t have to eat from the same plate. His sincerity on the first album is still reasonably clear, and that’s enough for me (partially so on the second)... and Raf may be honest, but he has no talent whatsoever as far as I see it...

With the overwhelming majority of today's metal, you can vote with your feet. Just seeing Progressive Metal, Avantgarde Metal among the genres makes me a little queasy. You yourself said in the review that the album is nothing special... what might be a decent album for an average metal listener like you is just crap for us, that’s all.

Oh my God, in Raf's Trial I doubt you'll find the syncopated bass of Stalemate, that killer one from Stink Finger by Faith No More, the driving one from Clunk reminiscent of Korn, the funky filthy one from Counterfeit, the unsettling one from Stuck...well, tastes may vary.
