"criticizing metal with idiotic banalities"... it seems to me that certain pro-metal attitudes (as it's understood today) are far more idiotic, as they use the most nefarious arguments to legitimize it as "art"... there's no worse deaf person than one who doesn't want to listen, but in the end, everyone should listen to whatever they want, right!

MMM is derivative, but better 17 Kings.

Better some old records by the Swans...a meager 4.

You know how much I like you, but here we’ve all listened to certain metal groups, or almost all of us, in the past. It’s not a matter of culture, but of seriously reevaluating the concept of beauty and ugliness, which is where the whole issue lies. You can say whatever you want, but the fact that the first album by Korn was important and valid is a well-known fact to those who listen to CERTAIN rock, and we’re not the only ones saying it. Their style is derived from post-hardcore in every sense, which is then exaggerated and metalized, but the background is far from canonical heavy metal. This is why Davis’s struggles are much more painful, personal, and psychopathic than anything on an album by The 3rd and The Mortal, which I see you mentioned. I can tell you that they evoke pity and mercy in their gothic, baroque nature, poppy in the worst sense of the term, and trivial with those empty, elementary-school riffs typical of certain abominations (a mix between Evanescence and Nightwish), and with that ā€œangelicā€ voice that’s so fine to itself. With affection, Lux the Kornuto.

No way, it’s not that it seems... it’s total nonsense!

"Metal originated as a movement detached from commercial music, music for a few with poor sales, and you must have noticed this"-----wow, metal sells poorly? It's the most overexposed rock genre in the market, alongside good old Hard Rock; did Iron Maiden sell little? And Metallica? Do you think Cul de sac sold as much as they did? But can’t you see how the image of the average metalhead has been commercialized? Why do you think the typical embarrassing Power Heavy Black Death Prog bands pop up every day, all the same and utterly senseless? For "artistic inspiration"? Or because those fools playing metal know their audience, and they know that their garbage will always have a loyal market?

This review is filling up with devastating common comments.. once again, it's simply a matter of technique, which saddens me greatly, first because Cobain couldn't care less about playing like Cynic, and second because it's about time to realize that the so-called "technique for its own sake" is not a trait exclusive to the usual DT, but also to bands like Cynic, who I used to like and who certainly have a higher dignity than the Boston band, but right now I find them to be anything but essential. Psycroptic: have mercy on my eyes and don't make me read such childish comments about suicide (the topic is far more complex than you want to imply), and about the history of Cynic, which will have at least 78950303493927485934030495945609470 40743837278976075860720789068327293 7689237540968259082 million superior bands/artists. Unforgiven, Korn, before being metal or nu metal or crossover, are simply rock. A track doesn't have to have a solo to be a masterpiece (I thought this was a super-basic notion acquired), but I realize I'm talking to metalheads, so I won't even attempt to delve into certain discussions.

Unforgiven please, better Nirvana and the early Korn, than those ridiculous Heavy Brutal Death albums that you yourself seem to have reviewed... you metalheads get scared as soon as you hear something that goes beyond the typical 2-bit, overinflated metal (that truly is music for real frustrated losers). Maybe you haven't realized yet that this album (thank heaven) is not just simple "metal," but a reworking of it, in a period like the 90s where everything was deconstructed, with stunning results achieved (like this album).
