A myth.... a myth....

Know-it-all, as is well known, I do not accept any sort of irony about the '80s, make that clear. Let alone vague sexual allusions about the legendary chart. Enea's list, by comparison, looks like the shopping list of a young alt-pop fan at the entrance of any Virgin Music Shop at the end of the '90s....

Listen Enea, you must have realized the insignificance and the "lightness" of the names you've re-presented to me: I mean, the '90s are Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, Chemical Brothers, and Massive Attack??? Should I really list the Sacred Monsters of the '80s??? People who entered the history of music across all sectors. And then you add, almost like a tombstone... "in the famous second half of the '90s when you say every creative stimulus faded, rave techno exploded..." The techno of the raaaveee??????? What is that? No Enea, tell me you're joking, please. If I were you, I would conclude: yes, actually Geenoo, when you're right, you're right: the '80s were epochal and in a way revolutionary. Compared to that, the '90s are just a little fart in the wind.

... Aeneas, since the '90s were a hundred thousand times better for you than the deplorable '80s, could you make me a nice list of influential '90s artists like the one I made for you (aside from those 4 aristocratic cats you mentioned...) from the '80s and possibly popular (in the sense of not unknown)?? I mean, people from the '90s who will still be remembered in 10 years... I'm curious...

Anyway, I want to break a lance (yes, the car...) in favor of good Aeneas... He is a gentleman, there's no doubt about it. And here we twiddle with words and play with words, always respecting what others think (well, let’s skip over puntinicazpuntini…). It’s not that you, Alessioiride, despite calling yourself one of the few sarcastic people on Debaser, really make anyone laugh, you know? "Deficente, checchina, dildo, the sad thing, frociaggine, critichino, cazzi tuoi..." Try insulting someone without using a swear word? You know it's a truly interesting stylistic exercise? And... we have to take everyone seriously. Why not? Here on Debaser, we're all serious; those who want to act serious usually change the air.

Forgive me for any grammatical and lexical slip-ups. But when it comes to the '80s...
Hey Enè, speaking of which, how do you rate the '90s, if you had to sum it up in two words, or rather, one is better...

I'm sorry, Enea, but when you write: "my judgment on the cultural importance of the '80s is negative"... everything else you say goes out the window. How can you dismiss TEN years of music like that? As for certain artists I mentioned, I pulled them out from memory, and let me tell you, they peaked or at least did great work right in the '80s. Now, if it's ten months before January 1, 1980 don't frustrate me, okay? I mentioned those artists because, for me, they represent the '80s. You know what I really think, even from many of your responses?? That the '80s bother you because there was an explosion of music; it became truly popular. Pop, rock, heavy, rap, etc... they infiltrated everywhere. MTV, Billboard, stadium concerts, TV expanding, the first videos, various charts introduced us to artists who then became almost "legends" (Springsteen, U2, Madonna, Jackson, Prince...). This phenomenon of music becoming popular, spreading among the public which is no longer a niche phenomenon really seems to annoy you. The masses are bothersome; it almost seems like music listened to by the common people is trash. Or at least that's how it comes across from your refined responses. The '80s suck. But for me, the '80s were the transition between the old and the new. Between one century and another. In those ten years, everything revolved: computers, a new kind of cinema, mobile phones, the economy, CDs, computerization, the expansion of TV networks, global modernization... and so music became a "pop" phenomenon indeed. Of course, this brought about various junk but also brought delightful novelties. A decade therefore to be discovered and not underestimated so casually just because maybe Canale5, when doing a revival, only brings back the time of the apples and the Spandau Ballet.
