For me, the greatest HC group of all time is the Bad Brains. But the Minor Threat are among the top. I would also like to mention Scratch Acid and their subsequent incarnation: Jesus Lizard. But hardcore was relative: see Post-Hardcore.

As masterfully played as it is and everything else, they remain derivative. I don't notice the freshness that could be found in Earth; in short, Earth heavily brought the teachings of La Monte Young and his Drones to the core of Doom Metal, a lesson echoed by Sunn O))), but by now it was a genre—this Drone Doom—that had already been dissected by "Terra." In short, a Drone is a Drone, Doom is Doom; there are certainly no significant variations that can differentiate the sounds.
