ahh another thing: the term PUNK. I see it as the will not to aggregate to a movement, as the desire for independence and individualism. For me, the most punk work ever created is Songs Of Leonard Cohen from 1967; when everyone was making noise and politics, Cohen retreated into intimacy, literally telling every trend of the moment to screw off. I consider this a punk spirit, silent poetry in '68. Also, I consider Spiderland from 1991 an album with punk ideals; while grunge was raging, they rolled in on themselves with post-rock. And I could give a thousand other examples, but that’s enough:) The least punk bands are those that in 2006 continue to play Hardcore, Hardrock, Punk in the style of '77 or '74... apart from the fact that they are living anachronisms, they know that the sounds they offer will bring a smile to a mindless audience, already domesticated to those sounds. The ANTI PUNK is this.

Sonic Youth have become calculated and mathematical intellectuals; when music loses its visceral quality and you recycle your own stereotypes for decades, you really hit rock bottom. I love Steve Albini; he had already filled them with tons of crap with Rapeman (the song that talked about taking Kim Gordon's panties off), and he did it quite well. I think Youth were born as a reaction to the now overwhelming violence of the hardcore of the time, bands like Fear ā€œSexist, brutal, homophobicā€ pushed towards a reactionary softening, a sense of mutual brotherhood. I'm also into the noise-pop of Dinosaur Jr; they represent different registers of communication... that's all. From these Japanese noisemakers, I have the Merzbow, Boredoms, Zeni Genva trilogy. And now I'm listening to the hardcore noise of Melt Banana. What do you think of Boredoms?

Well, this pathetic introduction is over, now I’ll move on to talk about them. ehehe I really enjoyed this laid-back style, I can relate to it so much :) It’s nice that you reviewed an emerging Italian band; there’s such a need for new talent... maybe an Italian group that can stand alongside the big foreign ones. I’m not a nationalist (a term I think I just coined), but damn, will we ever have at least one fucking band that can match, I don’t know, Slint or Butthole Surfers?!? Who knows. Great review, heartfelt just the way I like it.

Ugh, why don’t you ever write the music genre in the data column?!? If it’s Metal, Hard Rock from the '80s, or glam, I won’t read it; I don’t want to read everything just to get an idea of the genre they play.

Yes, let's say that the review didn't turn out to be anything special; I've determined that in the invectives, I'm neither Martial nor Petronius. It was just to diversify a bit from the academic tone of the previous ones, but since that's what I'm good at: I'll go back to it. I give my review a 3. I give the one on Negativland a 4. I give the one on Flipper a 5. A bit of self-criticism never hurts. Doing self-criticism without a license is harmful.

A truly beautiful and ORIGINAL record. Of course, for 11 euros spent, did you also want it pirated?

Only 15 euros? Just 11 euros?!?!? WHAT???? With 11 euros, I can buy some spinach fritters, an Estathé, and enjoy a risotto alla milanese while stuffing my face watching a 70s poliziottesco with Milian! There are some super underrated ones that cost only 3 or 4 euros. Stay rok. Stay sasso.

:) Anyway, Max Pezzali and Mauro Repetto in the first two albums did some crazy numbers. Then unfortunately Max started to loiter in front of elementary schools and steal the diaries of little girls to find inspiration for his lyrics! Seriously, songs like Rotta X Casa di Dio, Nella notte, Sei un mito, S'inkazza ... come on, they are little gems, way better than Elio e Le storie Tese, much more fun and entertaining.

Brian made two good albums: Back In Black and For Those About to Rock... and I would say that’s enough. Sure, I like Ballbreaker, some things from The Razor's Edge, but overall after the first two albums, it completely went downhill: the pointless Who Made Who, Fly On The Wall, Blow Up Your Video. And I'm speaking as someone who has over 25 AC/DC bootlegs and at least a hundred official videos and rarities; I love AC/DC, but from '74 to '81. Bon Scott had a more sincere and rough charm, he wrote very clever and lively lyrics (Love Hungry Man, for example). He had a charisma that Brian... who over time became Luca Sardella, could only dream of! Then De-Gustibus, BallBreaker can be listened to for some inspired riffs by Angus: The Furor, Love Bomb, etc. etc., but I would have done better on vocals! By now, Sardella is a choked cow. Sure, Blackmore is a great guitarist, but he lacks the sacrilegious charge that I like... I listen to various things too: singer-songwriter, ska (the '70s one), hardcore, '70s rock, a lot of noise, grunge, pop, and '60s-'70s psychedelia, kraut rock, post-rock, punk '77, punk '74, post-punk, electronic punk (WE ARE NOT MEN WE ARE DEVO!!!), and a lot of experimental music…
